    About Melissa Mullamphy:

I had a lot of jobs in life starting at the age of 14. I filled grocery bags, played the drums in an all-girl heavy metal thrash band, sold lottery tickets, got a Master’s degree in counseling psychology, worked in a psychiatric emergency room, led various non-profit events, and ran group therapy. I settled in corporate America as a Domestic Operations Manager for just shy of 20 years in a profession that had nothing to do with my degree, traveling the country in limousines, airplanes and did a lot of fine dining.  Sounds important, right? Or dysfunctional, you pick.

Nothing could prepare me to watch my Mother die and suffer for eight months from ovarian cancer. No job, no fancy degree, no experience.

Like me, this book is eclectic.  I call it a memoir/ self-help. My goal is to keep the promise that I made to my Mom, one late night in her hospital room while she was suffering yet another complication of the shit diagnosis of cancer.

You will learn what my family learned the hard way while being by my Mother’s side the entire time.  All of it.  The mistakes, the emotion, false hope, the waits, and the love we all shared as a family unit at the most heartbreaking time of my life.

Each chapter represents every month from diagnosis to death, and lessons and tips to help you advocate for your loved ones through example, find your voice, and understand your rights in a very complicated, fucked up, and imperfect healthcare system.

  • Infertile Mom of 4
    Apr 19 2022

Here are the things to expect in this episode:

    • Almost everything–from diet to lifestyle–affects fertility.
    • What does a fertility coach do?
    • Unexplained diagnosis of infertility is very common.

    About Erica Hoke:

Erica Hoke is the infertile mother of 4 boys, all born to her as a “geriatric” pregnant lady. After struggling for years with undiagnosed endometriosis, uterine fibroids, PCOS, thyroid disease, factor 5 Leiden and MTHFR, unable to participate in traditional IUI or IVF methods, she was able to get to the bottom of her infertility issues via continual changes to her diet and lifestyle.

Now she fiercely shares her story and the stories of others as a means to give hope to those still on the path to creating the family of their dreams. Dissatisfied with the way reproductive endocrinology (REI) medicine handles common infertility issues, Erica is determined to disrupt the entire reproductive medical system. Empowering infertility patients by creating a standard of care and testing path through which to collaborate and coordinate with their doctors has become her mission. This approach allows the patients to systematically address and remove all obstacles before pursuing invasive and expensive IUI and IVF treatments.

  • Functional Gut Health
    Jan 18 2022

Here are the things to expect in this episode:

    • What is the involvement of carbohydrates in digestive health?
    • How do you identify if you have gastrointestinal issues? What tests should you take?
    • How do you get a better balance in your gut health?
    • The five carbs that should be eliminated for people who have gut issues.
    • What is the fast tract diet?
    • And much more!

    About Dr. Norm Robillard:

Norm Robillard, Ph.D. (Norman John Robillard), Founder of Digestive Health Institute, is a gut health expert, author, and microbiologist. He is the creator of the Fast Tract Diet – Fermentation Potential (FP) system, author of the Fast Tract Digestion book series, and publisher of the Fast Tract Diet mobile app.

Dr. Norm received his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst studying Bacillus anthracis and other Bacillus species. His post-doctoral training at Tufts University, Boston, focused on antibiotic resistance gene transfer. He was the first to demonstrate the transfer of genes (via conjugation) between the anaerobic gut microbes Bacteroides fragilis and E. coli.

During his career in pharma/biotech, Dr. Norm studied the mechanisms of antibiotic action and the genetics of antibiotic resistance. His work contributed to the development and approval of ciprofloxacin, a life-saving antibiotic. However, he always recommended a cautious approach with antibiotics balancing the benefits with the risks and side effects.

Beyond antibiotics, Dr. Norm worked on various other projects, including septic shock, viral illnesses and other antibiotics, antiviral and antibody-based therapies.
