  • Shai Hulud
    Jun 17 2024

On this weeks episode of the Pit Therapy podcast we are talking about the band Shai Hulud! These guys have had a lot of member turnover, but their one consistent has been Matt Fox. He is credited with coining the term "Metalcore" even though he now considers Shai Hulud more of a progressive/melodic hardcore. We talk about how Chad Gilbert from New Found Glory was their second vocalist and joined when he was only 14. You guys know we are suckers for melodic hardcore, so this was a fun band to go back through and really dig into their albums. Looking forward to catching these guys at Furnace Fest!

  • Local Band Series: Johnny Baseball (SLC) and Gagging Order (DFW)
    Jun 10 2024

We are back with another local band episode this week starting off with some Salt Lake City, Pop-Punk; Johnny Baseball. Their latest album, Still Swingin' Back, is a fantastic mix of that hardcore based, pop-punk, sound that we love from bands like Set Your Goals or the heavier New Found Glory songs. They just had their album release show, which was awesome, so definitely listen to the album, but hop on social media and find some clips from that show. Then we finally get into the DFW scene with the band Gagging Order. So far only one EP online for these guys, but they stood out to us having a more heavy punk feel that has been different than a lot of other Texas bands we have been listening to where they seem to be more metal based. They recently announced a couple of shows so catch these guys coming up soon! You can check out both bands social media accounts below:

They have been around for a bit but are still making incredible music. We also talk about the hardcore/metalcore band from Richmond, Virginia. They are hopefully going to release new music this year and have some really, really cool shows coming up. Really should check out both of these bands.

  • The Devil Wears Prada
    May 20 2024

We are talking about the band The Devil Wears Prada on this episode! The Devil Wears Prada is a band who took the Myspace and Hot Topic era by storm being one of the first (if not the first) Joey Sturgis produced bands. We talk about how through out their sound change it has always felt like they were ahead of the trend but all of their albums feel like a TDWP album, which a lot of bands lose. Going back and relistening to a lot of these albums really solidified for all of us how good they really are and we are looking forward to their next release. Let us know what you think! Do you like the new sound like what we have on Color Decay or did they peak and are you stuck on With Roots Above and Branches Below being their best album?
