Inside it, I asked the question: what does freedom look like to you in your life coaching business? How would it feel? What does your day look like? People already have their guards up when it comes to coaching; some don’t even see it as a real thing. So if I say “Hi, I’m a life coach” then sure, that’s great. But who the hell are you speaking to?

    You need to be a specialist in your field and speak to those people with a specific problem. You need to be the go-to person that everyone who’s looking for your solution comes to for said problem.   • Ditch the Coach Speak: How You Tell People What You Do

    Do you often explain to someone what you do as a life coach and get back a blank or confused look (one that screams “I don’t really understand what you mean, but okay”)? Many, many times I’ve worked with life coaches who communicated to potential clients in ways that no one actually understood what they did. They cloaked themselves and their business in “coach speak.”

    That’s not a place you really want to be. Instead, you’ve got to keep it simple and get very clear in how you talk about your business to others and especially potential ideal clients. So in this episode, I want to tackle this on a deeper level and discuss how you articulate what you do and how you help people solve their problem.

  • Life Coaching Certification vs. Life Coaching Business: What’s the Difference?

    Yeah, let’s get this one out of the way right off the top: a life coaching certification is very different from a life coaching business. With a certification, you have something behind you that says you’re able to coach someone on a specific topic or area. Well done! But at the end of the day, it’s literally a piece of paper.

    Just like a college degree that doesn’t guarantee you’ll land a job in your field of study, right? That’s not an actual job, and your certification isn’t an actual business. So what does it mean to have a life coaching business versus a certification? As I continue this “Back to Basics” series, I talk about the difference in terms of both real-world application and personal mindset.
