  • 55 years ago, tensions boiled over on the campus of Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, after a black student was barred from the ballot in the race for student council president. Looking for support, the Dudley students went to nearby North Carolina A&T State University, which has a rich history of fighting for social change. Within days, violence erupted on the university’s campus and the military was called in. Shots were exchanged between students and law enforcement, and at the height of the chaos, a sophomore student was killed. His murder is still unsolved. This is the story of what became known as The Greensboro Uprising.
