  • #90 Re-imagining Missions with Noel Brewer Yeatts
    May 17 2023
Episode Description: The multitude of humanitarian crises around the world has presented the church with an opportunity to re-imagine missions work. In spite of the seemingly overwhelming needs around the world, it is possible to work towards holistic transformation, one person at a time. To that end, for over 30 years, the Christian humanitarian organization World Help has been bringing the light of Christ into the dark places.   Our guest today is Noel Brewer Yeatts, President of World Help. Noel shares with us the mission of World Hope to provide “Help for today. Hope for tomorrow.” She further explains, “We don’t want to just to teach people just how to get to heaven, we want to teach them how to live on earth.” To that end, World Help works towards holistic transformation and long-term sustainable change, as it ministers in word and deed to the lost, broken, and hurting throughout the world. Noel encourages us with the good work that is being done throughout the world and how a difference can be made, one person at a time. This “help and hope model” of World Help provides a way forward as we re-imagine missions and how we can be involved in social justice and salvation simultaneously.   On this episode, Noel and Bobby will discuss: The partnership between World Help and national ministries and organizations. The ways World Help is addressing both physical and spiritual needs. How we can all work together to help people in crises and stuck in cycles of poverty and oppression.   To learn more, please visit, https://worldhelp.net/ ____________________________________________________________   About the guest: Noel Brewer Yeatts is the president of World Help, a Christian humanitarian organization serving the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world. World Help gives help for today and hope for tomorrow through humanitarian aid and relief, community development, education and sustainability projects, Bible distribution, and church planting.   Yeatts became president of World Help in 2019, having previously served the organization for more than two decades in various aspects of its humanitarian work, most recently as vice president over special projects. During her time as president, Yeatts has spearheaded World Help’s refugee crisis work in Afghanistan and Ukraine. She is also passionate about fighting for victims of modern slavery and sex trafficking.   Yeatts believes hope is restored when humanitarian work is focused on both body and soul. Her philosophy is that faith can mean very little when people don’t have access to food, clean water, and the medicine they need; but without faith that feeds the soul, meeting those physical needs is just a short-term fix. World Help aims to bring long-term sustainable change while also meeting the immediate needs in communities around the world.   In addition to her role as president of World Help, Yeatts is a speaker and author of Awake: Doing a World of Good, One Person at a Time. Her latest book will be published in the Spring of 2023.   About the host: Following a successful career as CEO, Bobby sold his business to a publicly-traded company.  In what he calls his "second half of life", Bobby seeks to pour Biblically-based principles into growth-minded business, church, and non-profit leaders.   Through Values-Driven Leadership, Bobby serves as an Executive Coach and Training Consultant for organizations.  He shares many of his principles and practices through a weekly blog, the True North Leader podcast, and through three books he has authored:   Principled Profits: Outward Success Is an Inside JobTrue North Business: A Leader’s Guide to Extraordinary Growth and ImpactThe Freedom Paradox: Is Unbridled Freedom Dividing America?   Find out more at valuesdrivenculture.com

  • #88 The Way of the Unhurried Life with Alan Fadling
    May 10 2023

Today’s guest is Alan Fadling, the Founder and President of Unhurried Living, Inc. Additionally, he is the author of An Unhurried Life and An Unhurried Leader. In this important conversation, Alan helps us slow down to recognize the negative impact that the challenge of hurry can have on our souls. Alan recognizes the challenge of hurry that we are confronted with on a daily basis, yet shows us another way forward, the way of unhurriedness.   Looking to the example of Jesus, we are reminded that “he didn’t let busy fill every waking minute of his life.” Alan invites us to re-evaluate what matters most, loving God and loving people. Unfortunately, if we lose sight of this, hurry can consume us and we will find ourselves missing the mark. We are presented with the important reminder that “you can’t love people in a hurry and you can’t love God in a hurry.” By embracing the way of unhurriedness, we can experience a deeper connection with God and therefore re-establish our identity in our relationship with God instead of our performance or accomplishments. The way of unhurriedness sets the stage for the profound kingdom impact that we can cultivate in our lives and in the people around us.   In this conversation, you will hear Alan and Bobby discuss the following:
