  • Episode 62: Our GLP-1 Journey: Zepbound

    We know GLP-1 meds are still a hot topic, so wanted to share our journey with you all. We both came to the decision to start taking Zepbound after coming off Mounjaro in 2023. Tune in and listen to why we chose to start Zepbound, what method we are using and what we hope to achieve.

    In this episode, we also discuss what we learned from Mounjaro just a few years ago to help us prepare for part 2 of this journey.

    We both spoke to our doctors and explained what we were hoping to achieve and they were both on board. We are THRILLED that medical professionals are willing to help fight this disease of obesity, no matter what it takes! And we are both fortunate enough to have those caring and invested doctors to aid us in this journey. Both doctors covered with us how to properly pull the injection and how to administer it. Explained possible side effects, talked about diet and exercise in a caring and helpful manner. All the things that we deserve as humans in this battle for health!

    Our advice? If your doctor isn't willing to walk the path with you... FIND A NEW DOCTOR! Like now!

    The only missing puzzle piece here is to get the insurance companies up to speed. Neither of our insurance companies will cover the drug. So, we had to seek alternate routes to make it affordable. Tune in if you're curious to hear more about that, as we explain it in detail in this episode.

  • Episode 61: The Importance Of Community With Bari-Bestiez

    We often talk about how much we lean on each other for support. We both agree that there is no way we would have been successful in this journey without each leaning on each other and the weight loss community.

    When we went to the JBY award show last month, we met Nina & Pam and we instantly connected. This sparked a lot of conversation around the need for community and a support system.

  • Episode 60: Quarterly Goal Check-in

    If you've been following us for a while you know that we take our goals very seriously. Every year, rather than making resolutions, we set attainable goals for ourselves.

    We know that when we don't check in on our goals, we tend to let them slide. So tune in and listen as we talk through the goals we set back in January.

    As always, we aren't hitting them all out of the park. And that's ok! We know we have plenty of time before the end of the year to get back on track.

    Have you followed up with your goals yet? Don't have any goals set yet? No biggie... just set aside 30 minutes to sit down and iron a few goals out for the rest of the year.

    We loved having Rob on our show in the past, and knew it was definitely time to have him on again! Last time we discussed the "bers" and handling heading into the holiday season. This time, we're tackling a different season... SUMMER!

    Never heard of Rob before? Rob is a NASM and NLCA Certified CPT CNC with an MA in Education. A History teacher by profession, Rob had Bariatric surgery in June of 2020 when his weight topped out at 365 pounds. He has since maintained a 150 pound weight loss while traveling the country as a National Speaker and host of countless bariatric events.

    He founded Busy Bariatrics in 2023 and has since helped dozens of clients find attainable and sustainable success in their bariatric journeys at all stages from pre-op to honeymoon to decades in maintenance!

  • Episode 57: Sex & Intimicy After Weightloss

    After losing a lot of weight, you go through a lot of changes. Everything from your body, the excess skin, your mind and how you view your body.

    The way you think someone else may view your new body. While you were losing weight you were thinking of how great it will be once the weight is off. Except it doesn't always work that way. Whether you're single, married, or with a long-time partner... insecurities will likely pop up. You may even regret losing the weight because you feel less sexy or desirable.

    We've both been there! It's not fun! And there is a whole new round of head work that you have to do so you don't go down a rabbit hole of self-doubt. But remember, you are healthier now than you were with the excess weight. It's all just mind over matter! Maybe skin removal surgery is in your future? But maybe not?

    Listen in as we talk through ALL of this, and then some with the wonderful Dr. Victoria Panna (aka Dr. V). She is a PhD level clinical sexologist and licensed professional counselor who supports people losing weight to address emotional and sexual needs. She is also the clinical coordinator and Faculty member at a master’s level counseling program and owner of Sex and Intimacy After Weight Loss Surgery, where she works as a personal development coach for pre- and post-bariatric and GLP-1 clients. In her spare time, she enjoys going to sporting events, spending time exploring new places with her friends, and going on jeep excursions with her 4-legged co-therapist/co-teacher, Parker.   • Episode 55: Saying Goodbye To 2024 & Creating Goals For 2025
    Dec 31 2024

    It's a new year, which means we should set new year resolutions, right? NOPE! But we should at least chart a path of how we want our year to go. So rather than setting an unrealistic resolution, look to your past and plan for your future. What went well for you in 2024, what would you like to see for yourself in 2025. And we're not just talking about the scale... but rather what do YOU want for yourself?

    If you've been following us for a while, you know that we are goal driven. Every year we set goals, and we check in on them quarterly. Well, this year is no different. We set individual goals in the beginning of 2024, checked in on them quarterly, pivoted as needed, and closed the year out feeling good about our choices.

    That's not to say that we smashed each goal, because we didn't! But had we not set a path to follow, we likely would have gone way off track. So that being said, we came up with some new goals for 2025.

    We each started thinking about what we wanted a month or so ago. But we finalized these goals as we talked through this episode. Our goals are usually along the same line, but definitely tailored to us each individually. Overall, we want to be healthy, happy and live our best life! These goals will help us do just that!

    Do you have goals for the new year? It's ok if you don't. Take a minute to think it through and write a couple of things down. Even if you're not listening to this in January... that's ok! It's never too late to set a goal for yourself. Also, make sure you join us each quarter of the year to check in and see where you stand. We promise you won’t regret it!
