Story
A tyrant by day, a playboy by night. That's the reputation that precedes Richard VanRyan. He lives life the way he wants, no concern for the opinion of others. He cares for no one, is completely unrepentant, and has no desire to change his ways. Katharine Elliott works under Richard as his PA. She despises him and his questionable ethics, but endures all the garbage he sends her way, because she needs the job.

Korney dialogue!
Reviewed: 01-19-25
Well, they said the inappropriate dialogue. I would cringe if someone said such blokey shit in front of people or alone. Writer couldn’t write it to be real.

Doesn’t deserve the hype!
Reviewed: 09-07-24
Maybe the narrator could have made the characters sound better, which might have made the story more alive, but nothing can fix the story, plot, interest, nothing historically fun. Author is getting more praise from others than deserved. Not a fan of bad romance pulp mill writing.

Story
In Betrayed, award-winning author Brendan DuBois writes a harrowing tale of "what if" that begins with a knock on the door. Late at night, small-town newspaper editor Jason Harper answers the door, revealing a dirty, bearded and disheveled stranger. This stranger has an amazing tale: its his brother, Roy Harper, a B-52 pilot shot down in North Vietnam in 1972, and who has recently escaped, with armed gunmen on his trail...

Story
Imagine if you made one little mistake when you were young and were punished for it for the rest of your life. Well, that’s what happened to Lydia (yes, that Lydia, the youngest Bennet sister from Pride and Prejudice), and she’s here to set the record straight. Hold on to your teacups and get ready for sophisticated (and a little bit naughty) hot takes and witty banter that’ll make you laugh—and think. We meet Lydia just as she is denounced by her family, exiled miles from home, and married to the rogue George Wickham, who seems to love all women...except his own wife.

Happier ending and less suffering was refreshing. Don’t get me wrong, the suffering reaped great reward.

Story
In this Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, historian Barbara Tuchman brings to life the people and events that led up to World War I. This was the last gasp of the Gilded Age, of Kings and Kaisers and Czars, of pointed or plumed hats, colored uniforms, and all the pomp and romance that went along with war. How quickly it all changed...and how horrible it became.

Story
Anna Fox lives alone - a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.

I would rather not be able to figure out the inevitable conclusion. Looking forward to Finn’s next novel. He is capable of writing a great story.
