Cute

This is a very cute English love story with of course family intrigue...involvement. Not a history of the time period...just simple easy listening. There is one sex scene...little graphic... but only one... but if that turns you off .. ah ...well still a cute story. There are other books that follow the family.

Colin and Penelope were so much more

I knew from the last book that Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington would be the couple. It was just a matter of how the two oblivious people would see what was right in front of them.
I was wrong. Penelope knew all along, Colin was the dumb one that didn't really "see" Penelope until later. The good thing is that they developed a good friendship and had easy rapport. That is always a great foundation for a lasting relationship.
Both Colin and Penelope were so much more than those around them knew. They hid their true talents, ambitions and desires, only revealing it to each other in bits and pieces.
I continue to enjoy this series.

A nice edition to the series. Solid. Not my favorite of the series but I was glad to have a continuance of characters.

Boring? I don't think so.

Unromantic. I'll give you that, if you're considering sex the only criteria for Romance, then yes. This story values more love than lust, but it IS there. So if you like Raunchy Romance, it's lacking in that department.

Penelope has never been unappealing. She's been labeled that by...well, women! Her mother pushes her into society before she is ready. I mean there's a reason child actors typically have a dry spell during adolescents. How awful to have the most awkward time in your life pushed into the spotlight. Not to mention being tortured by her childhood bully. I think this is more of a theme in this book than romance. Bullys can follow you into adulthood.

To me this is one of the most realistic of JQs books. The protagonist is loved and admired for her wit. What!? Someone can love a woman for having brains!?

Then Collin has the opposite conflict. He is labeled by his charm and wants to be recognized for more than that. Also not untrue, but rarely told from a male perspective. It's usually the hot girl trying to get others to see her as more.

It's a nice story, but I do feel like it steers away from Romance and more toward connection. If you're only reading the book series and not watching the Television series, if you skip this book, you'll miss out on a major plot reveal.

Secrets

Peneople has been in love with Colin Bridgeton for years and he is finally back in London for the season. Colin and Penelope begin spending time together and before you know they are in love but what happens when Colin finds out about the secret Penelope has been keeping for years. I loved this book I enjoyed the journey of Colin and Penelope and my favorite character Lady Danbury in the background with her quips. I can't wait to read the rest of the Bridgeton series.

Mr Bridgerton

I was a bit disappointed in this book since I like the others so well… I thought Colin was kind of whinny in this book ...he was funny and personable in the first 3 books ....I kind of struggled to finish it

Enjoyable read/listen

Was hesitant to listen to book 4 but absolutely loved this book. Started slowly but evolved wonderfully.

I'd like to retract my statement at saying Benedict & Sophie were my favorite Bridgertons. Colin & Penelope's story is by far my favorite. Very original 👏🏾

I'm in love with all the characters of this story. Can't wait to read the next book!
