Married for 26 years, Jose and Kitty Menendez appeared to be a happy couple and proud parents. Twenty-one-year-old Lyle Menendez was enrolled at Princeton, where he was a star on the tennis team. Lots of details and great information on the case, coming from someone that didn’t know anything about the case. Was also well read. No mistakes or annoying voices.

Story
When Kentucky blueblood Drew Thornton parachuted to his death in September 1985 - carrying thousands in cash and 150 pounds of cocaine - the gruesome end of his startling life blew open a scandal that reached to the most secret circles of the US government. The story of Thornton and “The Company” he served, and the lone heroic fight of State Policeman Ralph Ross against an international web of corruption, is one of the most portentous tales of the 20th century.

Hours and and still no plot!!

I hate giving bad reviews! But, reading this book was like slogging through an owner's manual for something that you don't need or want. It is so onerous and boring. Too many people, too many details, no clear or linear moving plot. I wanted so much to like it. I read over 100 pages, skimmed another 100 pages, and then I just gave up in disgust. The story of a mafia type drug organization involving law enforcement, rich investors and various government bigwigs should be able to keep my attention. Unfortunately, it didn't.

Story
From the author of 'Murdaugh, She Wrote' and 'The Night My Husband Killed Me' ... In August of 2018, in a wealthy Denver suburb, a shocked and horrified nation learned that Christopher Lee Watts had murdered his pregnant wife, their two little girls and their unborn son. But shock was soon replaced by puzzlement. Why? And the surprising answer is that a standard Anadarko Petroleum employee policy led, unintentionally of course, to the murders. By early 2018, the Watts family finances were beyond dire again after a recent shattering bankruptcy, then Chris Watts’ employer, Anardarko ...

The author literally just made up stories of what she believes could have happened and presented it as facts. Ridiculous. What a waste of time this entire book was. In addition, she skipped around, rambled about who knows what and repeated herself. It was like listening to a squirrel with ADD’s thoughts.

I got half way thru and it hadn’t even touched on any of the murders and went on and on about random facts that had absolutely. Nothing to do with the murders. This was quite possibly the most boring book I’ve ever attempted to listen to. I promptly returned it. It was so bad

Story
Between 1854 and 1930, more than 200,000 orphaned or abandoned children were sent west on orphan trains to find new homes. Some were adopted by loving families; others were not as fortunate. In recent years, some of the riders have begun to share their stories. Andrea Warren alternates chapters about the history of the orphan trains with the story of Lee Nailling, who in 1926 rode an orphan train to Texas.

Insufferable author
Reviewed: 02-20-24
I’m not quite sure how this author managed to make other women’s rapes all about her. And how or why she added the whole entire story of her marriage and her husband who cheated throughout the whole book. It had absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the rapes, or finding the man who committed the crimes. Mindless details about the author, who seems to think a lot of herself. Like why do we need a list of everything her husband could and could not eat because of his disease? We don’t! Chapters upon chapters of her story made this seem more like it was an autobiography. We did not buy this book for an autobiography. I had to speed it up to get through the parts that were about herself. Which was unfortunately most of the book I almost did not finish this. would not recommend.

I have followed Nikki’s story since i listened to the podcast “Believe Her.” Listening to the podcast and this book is a real eye opener. The struggles that domestic violence survivors face in our “Justice System” is maddening. Nikki’s story heartbreaking, yet, gives hope for others, knowing she is free now. We are all hoping for real change in the justice system.
This book was very well written and the audible version was beautifully read.
