Story
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Superb performance!

First and foremost, 1984, by George Orwell, is fraught with drama and suspense. It is scary to think our society would be dealing with a “big brother“ situation. With that being said, Andrew Garfield is a superb actor who portrays Winston in a true fashion. This dramatic performance is very suspenseful especially with the background music. The narration is easily understandable, with necessary, pauses, and reflections. I highly recommend this audiobook.

I have listened to many audio Bibles through the years. This audio Bible is over the top! The performance by both narrators is phenomenal. The editing is very smooth. There are minimal audio edits. Both narrators have very soothing, calm voices. I highly recommend adding this Bible to your audio library.

The way to perfection is simple - to unite one’s will with God’s, putting into action the prayer “Thy will be done". In this precious short work, Uniformity with God's Will, St. Alphonsus Liguori explains the importance of conforming one’s will to God’s and how to do so; how God is glorified by our resignation to his will even more than by our acts; how to gain peace of mind and serenity by trusting in God, accepting what he wills for our lives, and following his commands.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Everything that was presented was substantiated with scripture from the Bible. The book is more like a blueprint on how to be closer with God and your faith. The narrator did an excellent job annunciating and pronouncing words. I strongly encourage all Catholics and non Catholics to listen to this book.

In a world filled with self-promotion and individualism, Improving Your Serve, by the highly esteemed pastor, teacher, and author Charles Swindoll, brings us back to the timeless biblical principle of servanthood. This classic book on volunteering and service shines a light on how we can live more purposefully by serving others effectively. With very few titles that focus on how to be effective in service and volunteerism, Improving Your Serve fills a crucial gap.

“When I say that I was a feminist in kindergarten, I am not exaggerating,” begins Isabel Allende. As a child, she watched her mother, abandoned by her husband, provide for her three small children without “resources or voice.” Isabel became a fierce and defiant little girl, determined to fight for the life her mother couldn’t have.

I really wanted to like this book. I love Isabelle Allende! I love the way she writes. I love her storylines however, I did not like this book. I did not like the political, feminist, socialist aspect of the book. I tried to like it. The book is not for me. The narrator was good, but not great. On the plus side, the book and the storyline allowed me to see more of an in-depth look into Allende’s life.

Poignant, gripping, gut-wrenching true story
Reviewed: 07-01-24
First, I disliked the fact that the Holocaust even happened, and for Elie Wiesel to have to document and tell the story from a son’s perspective is sad.
The story itself will leave you on edge, not being able to stop the audiobook. The narrator’s voice is monotone and intense. His voice is somewhat deep and dramatic, taking necessary pauses to allow the audience to catch their breath. The continuous abuse and cruelty the Jews suffered by the Nazis was carefully and deeply depicted in Night. I also liked the Nobel Peace Prize Speech that was read at the end of the audiobook. I highly recommend reading this book. Your life will be forever changed.

Max Lucado invites you to examine the cross, contemplate its purpose, and celebrate its significance in He Chose the Nails.Go ahead and linger on the hill of Calvary. Rub a finger on the timber and press the nail into your hand. Taste the tinge of cheap wine and feel the scrape of a thorn on your brow. Touch the velvet dirt, moist with the blood of God. Allow the tools of torture to tell their story. Listen as they tell you why the hope of all humanity balances on the truth of the claims of the cross.

I like reading a book pertaining to Jesus’s crucifixion during Lent. Max Lucado brings the book, “He chose the nails,” too light with strong meaning, and personal examples. I will definitely read this book again. It is a go to book during Lent.

His whiny story. His whiny truth.
Reviewed: 03-02-23
First, I truly believe that this book is on the basis of what is in Prince Harry’s mind and heart, as well as Megans. I was taught that you don’t air out your dirty laundry in public. Apparently, Prince Harry was not taught that you don’t error your dirty laundry, for everyone to read with that being said, he is an eloquent reader, and that is it. This is his story his truth. Do I believe his story, his truth? Not for one moment. I think Prince Harry needs major counseling. I think he is coerced and manipulated by a narcissistic woman: Megan. Do I like the book? No. I think the book was written solely for attention getting purposes. Damage is done. Relationships, sadly, will probably remain broken, all because of prince Harry’s actions… and Megan’s. Now that the book is published, and more than likely read by the royal family, it is time that Harry and Megan are stripped of the royal titles, Royal money, Royal houses, etc. They don’t deserve anything British. Harry and Meghan come from a generation of whiners; ….it is clearly exemplified throughout the book. Poor me syndrome. Bottom line: if you want to listen/read a book about a boy trying to be a man/clearly having mental and emotional issues…. all the while being unappreciative of everything that was handed to him, then this is a book for you!

Faithful Catholics are beginning to realize it’s not their imagination. Pope Francis has led them on a journey from joy to unease to alarm and even a sense of betrayal. They can no longer pretend that he represents merely a change of emphasis in papal teaching. Assessing the confusion sown by this pontificate, Lost Shepherd explains what’s at stake, what’s not at stake, and how loyal believers should respond.

VALID book that exposes the CORRUPTION of the Catholic Church.
Reviewed: 07-11-22
Lawler addressed valid points throughout the book, and backed up his points with evidence. This book only CONFIRMED that I made the right choice in leaving the church when I did….back in 2009. The corruption within this organization runs deep, and Lawler exposes every bit of it. The church does not believe in a divorced person that remarries, and does not seek annulment within the church, before remarriage, cannot go to communion. NO PRIEST, CARDINAL, BISHOP OR POPE will tell me that I cannot go to communion; especially since there is so much sexual abuse that is swept under the rug. Lawler is an exceptional author. Tom Parks is a good narrator. Honestly, I could not get enough of this book.
