Review

I really liked the book it has a great background and I really like how it has memory of Thrawn before he was exiled

Story engaging but audio balance is off

I tried to listen to this for a long road trip and found myself adjusting the volume constantly depending on who was speaking. Thrawn's voice is good but always a whisper while everyone else's voice was deafening. There voice acting was a bit overacted. One commander sounded like Jack Nicholson, the bad guy sounding jamaican, and a 10 year old sounding like she was 4 and very whinny. But I think that's par for most Star Wars audiobooks.

The author is one of the best Star Wars authors out there. He's the only reason I'm giving these "new canon" books a chance is because he's authoring them. Otherwise I would have written the whole new Star Wars EU off like Disney did with the existing EU. I'm still extremely bitter they did that so the newest movie trilogy could tell it's poorly planned story and break so many established rules from the original EU and Lucas' movies. /rant

I wish I saved five stars until now. I wish I never gave another book five stars. this production of this story was amazing from start to finish. thank you Timothy Zahn for admiral thrawn :-)

Also, thank you Mark Thompson, your voices are fantastic and very amusing at times. Sometimes I hear you doing the Duke, and sometimes I hear Michael Caine, anyway I love it.

Out of approximately 100 books I've listened to on audible, this one is the best. I would recommend this experience to any and all friends . As a long time science fiction aficionado I like and consume bookoo media in this genre. Star Wars universe sometimes meets resistance from branded universe allegiant fanatics. This brilliant work would easily enthrall crossover fans from Star trek, Marvel or DC backgrounds.

Great background story on Thrawn's early years

Great narration. Story really gets you to fall in love with his character. Zahn has done a fantastic job with the Thrawn books. Can't wait for the next chapter.
