Disregard Naysayers

Thd complaints about vocal quality come from veteran audiobook snobs. Ms Beck’s soul shines through, perhaps brighter than it gas ever shined. I will be relistening many times to fully absorb her life lessons, worldview, and mantras.

Clear, Concise, and a reference to return to later. Martha Beck does a great job with this book and the many parallels it brings home.

better than expected

It was standing long in my wish list because I didn't think I would benefit from any self help book, since they are all the same, I'm not a fan of the genre. But I started reading it because of a good sample, her narration intrigued me. And I'm glad I did. I like the parallel with Dante's Divine Comedy, and the personal stories. I don't think it's a recipe how to become happy in a day. While other self help books promise "just give me 10 dollars, and you will be better as soon as you apply an impossible principle to your life", this one acknowledges that it's a long journey. Feels very real in general. And I can sense the writer's honesty and authority from the text as well as her voice.

I don't agree with every single detail in this book of course. such as "matter is energy until we measure it", it's not how particle-matter duality works. Also I think there is no healing method that fits everyone, but in total it was worth the time spent.

Martha Shows the Way

I have followed Martha Beck for many years, first reading her hilarious yet profoundly helpful self-help articles in the O Magazine & then reading her many books. I was able to attend one of her early workshops too. She and her advice has stood the test of time, is indeed timeless.
This book is the answer to so much of what the world needs right now. May it’s truth resonate with yours.
