A New York Times Bestseller

“A smart, edge-of-your-seat story with plot twists you’ll never see coming. Stacy Willingham’s debut will keep you turning pages long past your bedtime.” —Karin Slaughter

When Chloe Davis was twelve, six teenage girls went missing in her small Louisiana town. By the end of the summer, her own father had confessed to the crimes and was put away for life, leaving Chloe and the rest of her family to grapple with the truth and try to move forward while dealing with the aftermath.

Now twenty years later, Chloe is a psychologist in Baton Rouge and getting ready for her wedding. While she finally has a fragile grasp on the happiness she’s worked so hard to achieve, she sometimes feels as out of control of her own life as the troubled teens who are her patients. So when a local teenage girl goes missing, and then another, that terrifying summer comes crashing back. Is she paranoid, seeing parallels from her past that aren't actually there, or for the second time in her life, is Chloe about to unmask a killer?

From debut author Stacy Willingham comes a masterfully done, lyrical thriller, certain to be the launch of an amazing career. A Flicker in the Dark is eerily compelling to the very last page.

The protagonist makes so many questionable choices that it's hard to listen to this story without rolling your eyes every few minutes. First and last one by this author, I am afraid.

You want to kill the protagonist

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast listen with a good story line, which is what I like in an audible book. I can listen while performing other tasks and it holds my attention. The only drawback, as with a lot of suspense genre is the female protagonist makes decisions that an intelligent, educated, adult female would not normally make. While it was explained away in a fairly plausible way in this book, it did bother me.,

Fast paced read

This book is one of the most recommended books of 2022. It is also a debut by the author. It has a good premise and is an easy and fast read. Almost from the beginning I have decided who the villain will be. But there are many twists and turns and a surprise ending..

RECOMMENDATION: Read it

A bit of a slow start at the beginning but wow the end was amazing. I really did not see that coming. I almost stopped reading the book when I got into the middle because I thought I already knew who the killer was, but really wasn’t expecting the end. Nice to have a true shock value, not many books have that. Didn’t enjoy the reader as much but the story def makes up for it!

One of my favorites now!

The story keeps you coming back, but the main characters weak internal dialog and need for self medication fills more of the book than necessary.

Slow and Repetitive
