Can the sassy American win the shy Brit?

Josie Adams had a brilliant speech writing career in American politics - until a scandal destroyed everything. Unsure what to do with the rest of her life, she moves home with her mother in the Cotswolds.

Journalist Harriet Powell ditched London after getting sacked and divorced within six months of each other. She hopes to find peace in the village, but after meeting Josie, Harry's world will never be the same.

While the two don't see eye to eye on the professional front, it's hard to deny their connection, even if Josie's mum is determined to set Josie up with anyone who isn't Harry.

Can the two conquer their personal and professional struggles to let the other in?

Contains mature themes.

It was okay. It was frustrating how dumb most of the characters acted and that the two MC’s had terrible communication, it was absolutely maddening. While ppl are complaining about the American accent, I know a person that was born in and grew up in America to two British parents who had a British accent. She sounds like the narrators American accent lol

I’m not sure I can continue this series. I don’t like the narrator. Im sorry to say but the lisp at times was very annoying! Especially when she was trying to move from one accent to the other! The American accent was never consistent either. Sometimes she reverted back.

Will continue...maybe

This novel had me so wrapped inside! I love the quirkiness of Harry’s personality. The way her and Josie complement each other well is also a plus. I mean beautifully written! I am ready for book two with a whole new world.

Beautifully Written!

I usually love reading/listening to TB Markinson’s books, but this one was a little to slow and gummy for my taste, some of the story was completely redundant.
She writes very well develops the characters well and this book is well developed but as I said too long...
Gabrielle Baker’s voice from time to time sounded bored as well as me... that is why I couldn’t give it 5 stars...

Well...

Sweet story but the "American" accent is so bad. I'm not even sure what region they're doing. It's supposed to be Boston I think, but largely southern for some reason mixed with a hard NYC accent. Makes it hard to enjoy as it's so distracting. Hope the rest in this series don't have the same narrator.

That accent tho
