There's less than one week to go in the run-up to the nation's next general presidential election - a heated political contest pitting the incumbent president against a popular challenger. But all bets are off when a heinous act of domestic terrorism results in a young boy being held hostage before the eyes of America...with the ultimate demands to result in nothing short of changing the face of history.

As a nationwide investigation into the boy's possible whereabouts is quickly mobilized, military brass requests that the mutant Wolverine become involved as well - there's simply no one more qualified with the tracking skills and vicious talent necessary to uncover the truth, even as the country threatens to descend into chaos....

I just finished all 6 of the Wolverine Novels and this one was easily my favorite!

Best one in the series!

Wolverine: Election Day by Peter David is a gripping story filled with political intrigue and action. The author clearly understands American politics, adding realism and depth to the plot. The stakes are high, the action sequences feel grounded, and the twist at the end is both surprising and compelling. Wolverine himself is written accurately, capturing his signature grit and moral complexity, which fans (like myself) will appreciate.

However, the story isn’t without its flaws. The ending feels rushed, with little follow-up on the villain’s fate, leaving a major loose end. The portrayal of the kidnapped boy’s mother as hysterical and annoying is frustrating—her reactions are entirely normal for a mother whose child has been taken by terrorists. This lack of empathy for her situation by the author and those who interact with her (she’s treated as a problem and a liability to the investigation) diminishes the emotional weight of the story. Peter David just likes taking kids away from mothers and completely glosses over or dismisses how traumatic that would be, I guess? (Ref: X-Factor #39 2005 series).

The book also suffers from a noticeable lack of female characters, and the one significant woman present is painted in a negative light. Considering Peter David’s handling of female characters in other works—yes, I’m still not over X-Factor #39, clearly—it’s hard not to feel disappointed.

The depiction of an enlisted service member piloting an aircraft is a glaring inaccuracy, as U.S. military pilots are commissioned officers. For an enlisted character to be the pilot, the story would need to take significant creative liberties, as this does not align with standard U.S. military procedures. If the character were flying in a civilian capacity or as part of a non-standard military operation, that might be more believable, but otherwise, it’s a notable inaccuracy.

Despite these issues, the story is engaging, with solid action and an intriguing twist. It’s worth reading for Wolverine fans, but the flaws may leave some readers wanting more and better.

Solid piece of work

Great Story & Action Packed

Pretty fun time with Wolverine and some new characters. It’s more about how he reacts to folks than how he is as a person (mutant), and that probably works best considering the plot and setting.

Fun Mutant Political Thriller!

As an X-Men fan, I had high expectations for this book. It started off slow, but when it picked up, it certainly picked up. The performance was great. The story was well told and I was happy that I gave it a chance.

Started off slow but then picked up..
