Dragons rule the world. Their claws are into every aspect of human life, from government to industry. But Kristen Hall is about to throw a wrench into all of that.

Because she's a dragon, too. She just doesn't know it...yet!

A dragon raised by humans, in the human world.

After graduating from the police academy, she's dropped right into the ranks of Detroit's elite SWAT team. A rookie, in SWAT? Unheard of. But what the dragons want, they get.

The reasons behind their machinations become clear as her dragon powers begin to surface.

Will Kristen rise to the challenges her new life delivers? What designs do the dragons have for her future? And perhaps most pressing of all - how did she come to be a dragon with human parents?

It's hard to take a story seriously when the term "karate chop" is used repeatedly. The main character is also hard to stomach. It's like she just doesn't learn. Same mistakes and behaivors over and over. Just doesn't seem like she grows at all until she kinda does. If it wern't for the last few chapters, I probably wouldn't give the rest of the series a shot. But I may put up with the narration (listen to sample before you commit to purchase/spend credit) and give the next book a try.

Glad I held on to the end.

I've listened to a few series by this Author or collaborations they've done. And this has a similar quality. If you look at my history and notice all the five stars. I'm not paid to do this. I'm just careful with what I buy. I can't afford to waste money or credits. with anything less.

The same quality I've come to expect

It's not a bad book and has a cool take on the urban fantasy genre. However, the writing often feels forced and it just dragged on so long. There were a couple of points where the book could have ended, naturally and smoothly and I was left wondering why not. Also, the main antagonist goes from being a cold, calculating mastermind criminal with personal plans of world domination to actually being a nervous flunky working for someone else. The switch did not come as a surprise so much as a jarring and unwelcome shock. It was hard to like the protagonist as she came across a lot of the time as whiny, short-sighted, and immature. That said, it was fun overall and I don't regret getting the book at all.

Not bad but it just drags on
