New Year's Eve, London.

Outside the Hope & Glory pub, a man has been left to die. A victim of extraordinary violence, he will never walk or speak again. He remains in hospital, nameless, until criminal defence lawyer Sarah Kellerman walks onto his ward. Sarah barely recognises the man she once worked with. He was honourable and kind - what was he involved in? Who wanted him dead?

But in her race to uncover the truth, Sarah comes to realise there are two men in her life that she never really knew at all....

From one of crime fiction's most compelling voices, One Dark, Two Light is where the personal and criminal collide, as Sarah works to bring dark secrets into the light.

Same old story wrapped in a different cover. The way she "loves" her son so much but is ashamed to tell strangers he is autistic or teach him the word no, or take him into uncomfortable situations in order to expose him to the real world is infuriating. I have a nonverbal autistic nephew, my brother and his wife have done him justice by not holding him away and helping us destiny the world is a noisy place with situations that are uncomfortable. he graduated from a public High School, worked at a Starbucks, has flown on planes, and done many things that are difficult. They are truly the best parents I have ever seen and hold every other parents, including myself, to their standards of parenting. They have 3 children - only the oldest is autistic. He is 21 now and little was understood when he was growing up. Beng that this book takes place in more recent times, the protagonist sure seems mighty ashamed that her child will never be "normal." WOW! What is normal? As a public school teacher, I know there is no such thing, Anyway, I will NOT BE listening to anymore books from this author.

This is my third Audible book by this author and probably my favorite, although I've really enjoyed all of them. I'm not a fan of most series, but the continued adventures of the complex Sarah Kellerman immediately engaged me and held my attention to the very last page. I'd urge everyone to listen to "In the Blood" first, because Sarah's background provides the foundation for the enhanced character development in this work. This is a real psychological thriller, as opposed to the many plot-driven books populated by one-dimensional characters. It's fast-paced, with a storyline that doesn't stretch your ability to suspend disbelief beyond the breaking point. Audible editors, please consider adding more of Ruth Mancini's earlier books to the Audible library.

Truly a page-turner

After a previous disappointing listen, I was thrilled to have discovered Ruth Mancini’s "One Dark, Two Light.” I am an avid fan of Ruth Mancini. Tracey Ann Wood's brilliant vocals bring the story to life with precision and flair; I will be on the lookout for more. Searching by narrator has proven to be a winner in discovering British hidden gems. From the first chapter, I was hooked on the complex web of subplots. The story begins on New Year’s Eve in London, where a man is left to die outside the Hope & Glory pub. Criminal defense lawyer Sarah Kellerman is tasked with uncovering the truth behind the man's brutal attack, who remains nameless and unable to walk or speak. As she digs deeper, she realizes that two men in her life are not what they seem. Mancini's writing is gripping, with a rollercoaster of twists and turns. Sarah is a convincing and likeable heroine, and family dynamics are explored with humanity. “One Dark, Two Light” is a must-listen for fans of crime fiction and thriller enthusiasts. With its fast-paced storyline, clever twists and dramatic courtroom finale, this audiobook was a captivating listen. I highly recommend it, and I'm eager to explore more of Ruth Mancini's works… now! Height recommended. Epic, indeed!

An intriguing thriller with a shocking ending

Really liked the story. The plot was interesting and character development was exceptional. It took awhile for the pieces to come together but the build up was still interesting. I enjoyed listening to this one.

Narration was really good. There wasn’t really a delineation between characters or gender but there still was a sense of genuineness when each character spoke.

Good story
