Publisher's summary
"Have you ever wanted to double your daily word counts? Do you feel like you're crawling through your story, struggling for each paragraph? Would you like to get more words every day without increasing the time you spend writing or sacrificing quality? It's not impossible; it's not even that hard. This is the story of how, with a few simple changes, I boosted my daily writing from 2,000 words to over 10k a day and how you can, too."
Expanding on the author's highly successful process for doubling daily word counts, this audiobook - a combination of reworked blog posts and new material - offers practical writing advice for anyone who's ever longed to increase their daily writing output. In addition to updated information for Rachel's popular 2k to 10k writing efficiency process, five-step plotting method, and easy editing tips, this new book includes chapters on creating characters that write their own stories, story structure, and learning to love your daily writing. Full of easy-to-follow, practical advice from a commercial author who doesn't eat if she doesn't produce good books on a regular basis, 2K to 10K focuses on not just writing faster but writing better and having more fun while you do it.
This revised edition includes updates and corrections for all chapters!

Story
It's every novelist's greatest fear: pouring their blood, sweat, and tears into writing hundreds of pages only to realize that their story has no sense of urgency, no internal logic, and so is a page-one rewrite. The prevailing wisdom in the writing community is that there are just two ways around this problem: pantsing (winging it) and plotting (focusing on the external plot).

Story
Writing fast is the most important skill you can develop as a writer. While it seems hard to hit high word counts, the secrets are easier than you think. In this writer's guide, prolific author M. L. Ronn pulls back the curtain on the process that he uses to write six to eight novels a year. He has kept this pace while juggling responsibilities as a husband, father, manager at a Fortune 100 company, and a law school student. The result is a catalog of over 40 books and counting.

Story
What makes a romance novel a romance? Writing a well-structured romance isn't the same as writing any other genre - something the popular novel and screenwriting guides don't address. The romance arc is made up of its own story beats. Told in conversational (and often irreverent) prose, Romancing the Beat is like sitting down to coffee with romance editor and author Gwen Hayes while she explains story structure - the way she does with her clients, some of whom are regular inhabitants of the best-seller lists.

In the world’s most magical metropolis where spirits run noodle shops and cash-strapped dragons stage photo-ops for tourists, people still think fairies are nothing but stories, and that’s exactly how the fairies like it. It’s a lot easier to feast on humanity’s dreams when no one believes you exist. But while this arrangement works splendidly for most fair folk, Lola isn’t one of the lucky ones.

Story
The Story Grid is a tool developed by editor Shawn Coyne to analyze stories and provide helpful editorial comments. It's like a CT Scan that takes a photo of the global story and tells the editor or writer what is working, what is not, and what must be done to make what works better and fix what's not. The Story Grid breaks down the component parts of stories to identify the problems. And finding the problems in a story is almost as difficult as the writing of the story itself (maybe even more difficult).

There are only, in my humble opinion, two kinds of readers: readers who love your books and readers who don’t know they love your books yet. But how do you reach those readers in the second category, no matter what kind of writer you are? The answer to that question is...universal fantasy. Universal fantasy is why my sales tripled when I “accidentally” wrote three books that landed in the Amazon Top 100. Universal fantasy is why some authors get gobs of gushing reviews and some authors who write “way better” get crickets.

Excellent resource for beginner writers
The book offers short and to the point informative writing craft advice.
The first part talks about what the title promises: Rachel's method of getting to 10K new words in about 6 hours of writing a day.
The second part is arguably even more important. Rachel talks about the prep work and plotting scaffolding that allows her to flow through her scenes.
The final portion discusses editing, because after the 1st daft is quickly completed, she follows up with about 3 rounds of self-edits before sending it off to agent/editor.
The writing style is clear, conversational, and fun.
I loved reading Rachel's last Dragon Standing series and knowing her process, I'm ready to apply it to my next book and have even more fun.

I have a lot to work with after listening to this book. I came in doubtful, but now I have hope I can write faster, better drafts. I don’t know I can do the editing the way she says. Even if I only take away how the outlining works, it will be worth my time.

2K to 10K to Must Read (or listen)
Packed with useful information and actionable takeaways, the author deep sixes the frills and fluff, leaving room for the things all authors can use. And as an add bonus to upping your word count, you will be a better writer if you use just a few methods that Rachel Aaron suggests. I wanna be a little bit better than a better writer so i plan on implementing everything. And if you wanna take your writing to the next level, then maybe you should too.

Good news: planning can save the day!
This is a fascinating and tremendously helpful book! As a new writer, I've gone through several books and laboriously typed every page... And then had to make a lot of changes later. It took forever. But Rachel has a good way of showing you how to plan out your book and take care of your writing schedule so that the words flow so much faster. And along with the planning, she says there will be a huge reduction in the amount of edits you have to do later... Which we all know is the hardest part of writing. Its an process, and I look forward to trying it.

In fact I re-read or listen again when I need encouragement. If you write you know we are wired a little differently and so great to find another like wired mind.
