Publisher's summary
Earphones Award Winner (AudioFile Magazine)
A stunning debut thriller in the best-selling tradition of Scott Turow and John Grisham!
Alex Miller is a criminal defense lawyer leading the life he always imagined. At thirty-five, he is the youngest partner at New York City's most prestigious law firm, with a beautiful wife and a perfect daughter. When Alex's father suddenly passes away, Alex is introduced to Michael Ohlig, a rich and powerful man who holds an almost mythical place in his family lore. But Alex is surprised when Ohlig admits that he's in serious legal trouble, accused of crimes involving hundreds of millions of dollars. Alex agrees to take on Ohlig's defense.
Through the course of two trials, secrets are revealed that force Alex to question whether any of the people in his life are who they appear to be. Most importantly, he must decide whether the identity he projects to the world is the man he truly is or even wants to be.
With its powerful voice, pause-resistant tension, and strong cast of characters, A Conflict of Interest will captivate listeners right up to its electrifying conclusion.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

As a string of high-profile jewel thefts went unsolved during the Swinging Sixties, the press dubbed the elusive thief the King of Diamonds. Like Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief, the King was so bold that he tip-toed into the homes of millionaires while they were home, hiding in their closets and daring to smoke while they were sleeping. Rena Pederson, then a young reporter with UPI, started following the elusive thief while she managed the night desk. With gymnastic skill, he climbed trees and crawled across rooftops to take jewels from heiresses, oil kings, corporate CEOs.

A Conflict Indeed!!
A conflict that just kept growing and growing! I love stories that are well written and have a well-defined and progressive plot. This book followed that path perfectly. The title indicates the legal dilemma (I swear I was taught this was spelled dilemna!!), and the storyline carries that theme through to the final conclusion.
This is the second book I have listened to by this author—I really liked them both. The narrator did a fine job as well, and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys being entertained by a good story!

Gripping!
I enjoyed the story and the narrator. I was a little tired of all the fine law details, but the story was excellent! This is the first time I have read this author, and I really enjoy him. He is very similar to John Grisham and Phillip Margolin, but the pace is much slower. I am curious about the next book.

Not bad but drags
Is there anything you would change about this book?
the detail is a little too much.
If you’ve listened to books by Adam Mitzner before, how does this one compare?
this was my first book and not hopeful on any more
What does David LeDoux bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
the dragging was better with his reading would have skipped if not for him
Did A Conflict of Interest inspire you to do anything?
wonder more about lawyers and there morals

Had a Firm-esque feel to it
Any additional comments?
It is a fast paced legal thriller the way The Firm by Grisham was. You are not sure why this is being done to this lawyer...why he is being singled out...I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a well done legal thriller that will keep you guessing.

Well read but a little unbelieveable.
What did you like best about A Conflict of Interest? What did you like least?
The premise of an atorney defending a man from his parent's past was intriguing.
What I liked the least were the portions of the story that strained credulity. It could have been and should have been much better.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I thought it was a bit bland and under finished.
Which character – as performed by David LeDoux – was your favorite?
The attorney.
Did A Conflict of Interest inspire you to do anything?
No
Any additional comments?
This book started with a good premise, but never generated the feeling or enthusiasm for any of the characters that it could have done. So much potential; so little development.

Misjudged
A very good story, however full of what is not supposed to happen in love
