Publisher's summary

An Amazon Charts and Washington Post bestseller.

From USA Today bestselling author Julianne MacLean comes a suspenseful, emotionally charged novel that explores the secrets and hidden truths within a seemingly perfect marriage.

Abbie MacIntyre is living the dream in the picturesque Nova Scotia town she calls home. She is a successful surgeon, is married to a handsome cardiologist, and has a model teenage son who is only months away from going off to college.

But then one fateful night, everything changes. When a drunk driver hits her car, Abbie is rushed to the hospital. She survives, but the accident forces unimaginable secrets out into the open and plagues Abbie with nightmares so vivid that she starts to question her grip on reality. Her perfect life begins to crack, and those cracks threaten to shatter her world completely.

The search for answers will test her strength in every way - as a wife, a career woman, and a mother - but it may also open the door for Abbie to move forward, beyond anger and heartbreak, to find out what she is truly made of. In learning to heal and trust again, she may just find new hope in the spaces left behind.

Enjoyed the story

Although I enjoyed the story it was difficult listening to the narrator. It sounded as if she was congested and if she was reading the script many times throughout the story.

Not just a curve in the road...

Just when you think you know where this story is going, another curve comes at you! I really enjoy the narrator, she did a fantastic job at playing the many characters.

Fun story with genuine feelings

I liked how Julianne kept the main character spinning with new challenges. Her first meeting with Nate was a missed opportunity to express what I think could have been a realistic immediate attraction. She would wonder if it was from spite, loneliness or sincere admiration. A natural feeling of self loathing would have added more dimension. Was she actually lazy in her marriage? Had she failed to give Allen emotional connection?
Also, more play on your sleeping sickness in her daily future would have been nice to explore.
All in all, a great story though. Fun to ride along.

Too True

I loved this book because it helped me understand what happened to me after my own husband’s sudden death. Not the details, but the effects of shock and PTSD.

A bit sappy, but entertaining

I didn't realize that this was basically a romance novel, because I probably wouldn't have purchased it, however, I enjoyed it. The plot was predictable, and the characters were a bit unrealistic.

A little predictable

I enjoyed the book but I saw the ending coming quite awhile before I finished.
