Loved this! Full of angst, spice, and love!

This book had been on my TBR list for a while, and I hadn’t read it because someone had told me that it was about substance abuse—how wrong they were! A Love Letter to Whiskey is a tumultuous and passionate love story filled with angst, spice, and love. The FMC compares the MMC to whiskey in a wonderful and clever way throughout the book, and that’s the only reason for the title.

This story was in a very small way reminiscent of After by Anna Todd because the characters keep going back and forth throughout a twelve year period, and their story is a roller coaster of emotions throughout that time. I personally loved all that angst.

I’m so glad that I read it after the Anniversary edition was available, because I couldn’t have dealt with the original short ending lacking any details about how it all ended, or any insight into the couple’s future. Even so, I still wanted more, and I didn’t want it to end! I highly recommend reading this, just make sure you read the Anniversary edition, instead of the original!

Hooked from the beginning

This love story was all consuming. The characters gave so much joy, and anxiety! They were complex. You constantly root for them. I loved every minute of this book. I didn’t want it to end.

This was a booktok recommendation and I couldn’t have loved it more. It’s the perfect blend of angst, heart wrenching ugh, spice, and character development. It’s perfect.

I’m drunk on Whiskey!

I absolutely adored this book. It’s crazy how we go through so many ups and downs with a person but still want to be with them. This book has so many lessons that we can learn from the characters and I love the references to Whiskey.

Gut Wrenching Moments

This books has been the best book I have ever read/heard. The connection I felt with B and Jamie was unexpected. I never connected like that to any other character. The middle of this book when they were mid to late 20’s, and their battles with each other about being together stirred up this emotion in my stomach that made me feel so many things. From true heart breaking pain, to wanting to throw up. So many tears we’re shed during this one.

The angsttttttt!

When I saw Kandi released this special 5th anniversary edition of A Love Letter to Whiskey and it included, not only more to B & Jamie’s story, but also Jamie’s POV…I could not wait to get to this. Kandi is known as the angst queen for a reason, and ALLTW is the angstiest book I’ve ever read…like you have to realllllly be there for the angst to get through this read. 😅 I read it a couple years ago and alllll the emotions I felt while reading it the first time came flooding back as I read Jamie’s POV. I felt all the emotions again while reading this and cried a couple times for sure. The new content, Jamie’s POV throughout the years and the extended epilogue were EVERYTHING! This was such a beautiful addition that Kandi wrote for ALLTW and makes it so much more (and it was already tops).

This edition does include ALLTW first and then all the bonus content, new epilogue, Jamie’s POV after. The first time I read ALLTW, I pulled an all-nighter and was so invested in B & Jamie. Their angst and heartbreaks were so visceral, it was a struggle of emotions to read through, but done in such a beautiful poetic way. Their friendship and relationship changes so much over the years of their lives and damn does it put your heart through it. Their story is the perfect example of something/someone always getting in the way, it “never being the right time” for them to be together. But wow do I love them and their journey.
