About this listen

Get ready for the action of The Walking Dead, the friendship of Stand By Me, and the sizzle of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Can love survive an apocalypse?

After a deadly virus ravages Chicago and destroys Mackenzie Lyons’ carefully curated world, Mac escapes the devastation and horror to her childhood hometown with the help of her best friend’s little brother, Jake. But the small-minded community of Sanford isn’t exactly welcoming, and the virus isn’t the only battle brewing.

Jake Brent has secretly loved Mac forever, and while this isn’t the way he’d dreamed of their relationship beginning, with the uncertainty of the outbreak, he’ll take every opportunity with Mac he can, and hope—pray—for a better future.

But when Sanford’s misogynistic council torment the survivors with horrifying demands, and a lawless motorcycle gang threatens their fragile sanctuary, somehow Jake and Mackenzie must form new alliances and face down dangerous enemies in a struggle far worse than the outbreak.

Surviving the virus was one thing. Surviving humanity after is another.

crude and could have been good.

gave this a chance and totally regretting it. crude talk about throbbing penises, seriously, that's all the guy talks about. don't waste a credit. I'll be getting mine back because I couldn't get past 30 minutes of this awful writing. if I wanted listen to point, I wouldn't have selected post apocalyptic genre.

Was not expecting his throbbing cock on this story

Can't get past 2 chapters. Not interested in reading about throbbing cocks. I will be figuring out the return policy.

Wasn’t expecting a Nora Robert’s Pandemic book

Was hoping for a little more substance and less descriptive sex with my end-of-the-world pandemic story. What a waste of $$, made myself finish it just cause I paid for the dang thing.

Apocalypse takes a back seat to romance

Adjust your expectations. This is a romance book that happens to take place during apocalypse. It’s interesting and a bodice-ripper.

I knew almost in the very 1st chapter it wasn’t for me unfortunately

The female narrator was great but that is my only positive about this book. When I read / listen to fiction the last thing I want to hear is political preferences I could turn on the news for that. Fiction is supposed to be an escape not an authors chance to tell you how they feel about current politics. The main character wasn’t strong she was whiny and overly needy while constantly trying to prove she wasn’t. It’s too bad because the blurb made this book sound amazing but it’s a no for me.

poor excuse for apocalyptic fiction

The only reason I even finished this is because it was already queued up and automatically plays in the background. It has terrible writing, sad storyline, political propaganda, and meager narration. I guess if you want to know how the lefties will handle an end of the world scenario, then this is the book for you. I can't get it scrubbed from my devices fast enough.

As if, story would be better without the sad sex scenes. Good book to fall sleep too

🎧❤️

Not all apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic stories are the same.

Some people only care for damsel in distress & a heroic male character, etc. This is not that kind of book.

AFTER TODAY by was a nice change & some events are eerily similar to real life happenings 😳

Definitely a book worth reading/listening to! 📚🎧

Suspense, action, and spicy romance

Can they find love as the world is ending?

First off for those who seem confused, this a romance story set in an apocalypse setting. Think of if you crossed the movie Contagion (with small dashes of influence from The Walking Dead (no zombies though)) with a spicy romance novel with the best friend's brother trope.

This book will show you the downward spiral of civilization when presented with a deadly virus that has a high mortality rate, This story follows Mackenzie (Mac) who lives in the city and has to get out when the virus hits, enter Jake her best friend's younger brother. He rushes to get her so they can both return to the safety of their hometown, only to find it wasn't the same place they remember.

The Narrators: I felt they both did a great job narrating this book, while Greg Boudreaux wasn't exactly how I imagined Jake's voice he still did a fantastic job. I thought Stacey Glemboski has the perfect voice for Mac.

I will again remind readers/listeners that this story contains open door spice, that is descriptive, if you don't like that in your stories than this book may not be for you.
