Publisher's summary

From America's most celebrated true-crime writer comes the heartbreaking, real-life drama of a doomed young woman hopelessly trapped in a web of sexual intrigue, political manipulation, and emotional deception by her charming and successful -- but ultimately deadly -- lover.

On June 27, 1996, 30-year-old Anne Marie Fahey, who was the scheduling secretary for the governor of Delaware, had dinner with a man she had been having a secret affair with for more than two years. "Tommy" Capano, 47, was perhaps the most politically powerful man in Wilmington. Although recently estranged from his wife, he was a devoted father to his four beautiful young daughters, the trusted son of his widowed mother, and the backbone of his extended family. But sometime after 9:15 that night something terrible happened to Anne Marie. It would be forty-eight hours before her brothers and sisters realized that she had disappeared entirely.

Ann Rule brilliantly traces the lives of both Fahey and Capano as she discloses the intimate details of their ill-fated bonding. A vulnerable, trusting woman becomes spellbound by a charming, duplicitous married man, and what begins as a seemingly unremarkable affair is slowly transformed into an obsessive, convoluted, and deadly relationship.

Destined to become a classic, ...And Never Let Her Go is a riveting account of forbidden love and murder among the rich and powerful, and a chilling insight into the evil that sometimes hides behind even the most charming facade.

VERY DISAPPOINTED to discover it was ABRIGED!

VERY DISAPPOINTED to discover it was abriged! That explains why the main characters were so weakly drawn, including the victim and the police detectives. Why doesn't Audible make more unabridged Ann Rule books available? If I could include vile language in my review I would.

Disappointment Save Your Money

What did you like best about And Never Let Her Go? What did you like least?

Sadly an Abridged version as much information is missing. Ann Rule lacked in her ability as she does so wonderfully to connect you to the victim.

If you’ve listened to books by Ann Rule before, how does this one compare?

First time Ann Rule ever disappointed.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I have heard this narrator do better work.

Do you think And Never Let Her Go needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The unabridged version needs to be offered.

Any additional comments?

Save your money and either pass or read the entire book. I want my credit back!

A pretty intriguing read, however...

I love Ann Rule's writing and it keeps my attention, even while driving! I thought overall the book was interesting and well narrated. Don't know if it's just my phone but the story just stopped after the music between chapters and I had to manually restart to continue on to the next chapter, which was inconvenient.

Ann Rule never disappoints...

We really enjoyed listening to the story, but when we bought it, we didn't realize it was the abridged version! We are still wondering what we missed. We try to buy only the unabridged versions.

Good Read

Overall, this is a good read. I was a little disappointed that this is an abridged version. I do like the way. Ann Rule really set everything up and talked about each family. She really got into the history of the families and their influence in Delaware. Towards the end it really amps up and I was shocked to learn a lot more about Thomas Capano then I had already new through watching several TV programs that highlighted this case.

Abridged

This is an abridged version, which is ashame. I wanted more in depth details. I am in Delaware. Almost all of this was known and has been since 1996-1998. Nothing new.
