Publisher's summary

Not all scars are visible.

Andrew Hollister knew the wounds that make a person the most vulnerable couldn’t be seen. That last mission punched his ticket home. He’d survived when most of his team hadn’t.

The physical damage had mended. The mental injuries hadn’t healed as easily. Hell, they hadn’t healed at all.

Once burned, twice shy.

Genevieve Wheeler’s past was littered with betrayal by those closest to her and she’d sworn she’d never let anyone hurt her again. Her life was full of family, friends, and her flourishing business. The last thing she was looking for was a relationship with a broken, sexy ranch hand.

Without the past, there is no future.

Just as life handed him a beautiful, vivacious reason to move forward, death came knocking once again. Facing his past was no longer something Andrew could avoid, and with Genevieve at his side, confronting the ghosts that haunted him was a battle he needed to win.

Happy for Andrew

Kris Michaels has done it again. Andrew’s story includes his adjusting to life after the military, relationship with his dad, and falling for the cafe owner Jen . Throw in the trouble of her ex and this will definitely hold your attention.

Andrew is Awesome

Kris Michaels never ceases to amaze me with a very sound book. She continues to capture my attention. As a military veteran, I always appreciate an honest portrayal of the military experience.

Great job.

Great start to a new series!

I loved this book in print, and the audiobook is a fantastic addition. Andrew's story gives you more of a glimpse into the town of Hollister, and the love story between Gen and him brings all the feels!

“Without a past there is no future”

I was wondering if we would hear Andrew’s story and was excited to read it! It was great to hear more about Hollister.

Part of this story is about healing the past and part about making a future. The characters are well developed. Gen had a past with a cheating fiancé that has left her leery of future relationships. However she is outgoing, funny, an entrepreneur and a hard worker.

Andrew is former military with PTSD in the form of nightmares. He is a solitary man but is kind.

I laughed and I cried. Brought many emotions to the surface. We all have a past. And sometimes it is difficult to heal and build a future.

The narration was great and I could usually tell who was speaking. Matt Haynes is one of my favorite narrators!

WOW! Emotion evoking romance

As the widow of a Vietnam veteran who died of Agent Orange related lung cancer (and was also service connected for several disabilities, including 100% PTSD), I was hesitant to read this book. However, the subject of cancer in veterans (and also PTSD-well all disabilities addressed) was so thoughtfully written, I really appreciated it. It was beautifully written and gives a new appreciation of what veterans go through related to their service. Not all scars are visible.

Looking forward to this series!

Kris Michaels did it again! I am excited to listen to the Hollister series. Love when these small towns people band together. The whole alien talk around the Marshalls farm was interesting considering I know what happened with the Guardians.
