Publisher's summary

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she is the best - but she does not know if even she is good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, Elena knows failure is not an option - even if the task is impossible. Because this time, it's not a wayward vamp she has to track. It's an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other - and pull her to the razor's edge of passion. Even if the hunt does not destroy her, succumbing to Raphael's seductive touch just might. For when archangels play, mortals break.

Fascinating story

Nalini Singh has a way of bringing her characters to life. And the narrator is excellent at adding the nuances of the voices. I have listened to these stories again and again. And will continue to do so

An audio worth listening to.

I really enjoyed listening to this book and look forward to reading it as well. the narrator did a great job bringing the story to life and giving each character their own voice and personality.

Good intro

Coming from Singh’s Psy-Changeling series I struggled to get into this one mainly because I kept comparing the two but now that it’s ended I’ve found that I like it very much and I liked the apparent ruthlessness of Raphael. On to the next one

good story, bad narrativ

the story seems very interesting but 30 minutes into it I could not get over the tin sounding audio. it sounds like she's too far away from the microphone in a room with no soundproofing. plus her voice is a little greeting and for my ears can't be listened to very long.

Three and a half hours later...

And I just give up! Romance aspect of this book is painfully generic and predictable. The language throughout the book so far is awkward and painfully repetitive. It's like the author is trying too hard to be poetic, but only possesses the writing skills of a kid in middle school. Telling us over and over how hot she finds the Archangel is painfully boring. The World building is a bit interesting, but with the terrible narrator, who sounds like a 55 years old woman who has pinched her nose to sound younger. Combined with the slow and repetitive nature of the book. I'm just too bored and getting a bit frustrated to go on. Which is a bit of a bummer because the series is mostly free with my membership. I actually tried using this book to fall asleep to...but the narrator's voice is so annoying, that it didn't work. I already know how it's going to end with 7 more hours to go. DNF

Narrator is Definitely A Personal Preference

This storyline is so good and refreshing. I do not even know what to say about the narrator. Her voice has a lot of vibrato. She is not bad BUT different. There were times when I truly tried to get into the story and accept with an open heart and mind the shaky voice telling it. However, toward the end, I found it a real challenge to listen to the story without being distracted by the narrator's unique voice.

This is one of those times when you either love her voice or hate it. Listen to a sample and take it from there. I really liked the story though.

Who Knew, Angels could be so hot!

This is the first book in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunters series.
Singh's main charater is a kick-butt, kinda girl. She is a "Born" Vampire Hunter. And she is the best there is. Her life is going fine, until she is hired by the very sexy, Archangel, Raphael. (who knew wings could be hot?)

I can't wait for the next Guild Hunter book called "Archangel's Kiss" to come out.

Singh is also the author of the Psy-Changeling Series. But, I don't think any books in that series are offered as audiobooks.

Angels’ Blood

I really liked the world the author created, it was unique and fun but not too out there that you’re like what?

I did feel like we are missing some of the details that would have helped me like the book just a little bit better. The fact that humans know about archangel’s and that they live among them one was one. But also that vampire’s too live among the humans too, just in a different way than other books.

The love story is ok, I liked Elena but I kind loved Raphael more, he was a little dreamier for me. I didn’t really see Elena with him but whatever it worked and I enjoyed the book.

I liked the narration, I feel like she does sound a little too old for a 20 something year old girl but it is whatever because her other voices for the characters is what I liked the most. I like that they flow well and I can get lost in the story.

No one build's sexual tension like Nalini Singh!

I admit, I have had this whole series in my library for a LONG time....I just couldn't bring myself to start it. I was a bit concerned with a female lead...ONE female for the series. I am use to books like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series where all the players are the same but each book focuses on a different pairing, or even the the Psy/Changeling series also written by N.S. that displays a similar theme....all the same players but the focus is switched to certain characters in each new book.

It's at this point that I would like to say....I am an IDIOT! If I had just listened to the first book I would have gotten over my prejudices and had some really awesome books to read! These books aren't like BDB or the Psy series....they are like Dune in that they have an intricate world of fantasy, myth, legend....some people are a bit insane....other's are just unlikable and evil. However, the banter is funny as heck!

Elionorra is a Hunter Born....this means that since birth she has an advantage over the average human, her senses are more advances and this helps her to track vampires. In this world of myth there are 4 types of people...The Archangel's, the Angels, the Vampires that they create and the humans. When a human petitions to be made into a vampire they sign a contract for 100 years of servitude to the angel that makes them....if they runaway the Guild Hunter's are called in to retrieve them. Ellie is such a hunter, but when the Archangel of New York commands her to a meeting on top of Angel tower she is pretty sure it isn't to help get an escaped vampire.

Raphael is one of 10 Archangels in the world, they are the oldest and most powerful angels in existence...and one of the 10 has gone rogue in HIS territory. Only another Archangel can kill an Archangel...killing him isn't the problem though, it's finding him! He must have the Guild Hunter's help in tracking the rogue before thousands die...he just wished he didn't WANT her so bad!

What can I say, great start to the series, great chemistry, great action, wonderful plot twists, wonderful book! Highly recommend you get at least book one and judge for yourself if you want to read more.
