Publisher's summary

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she is the best - but she does not know if even she is good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, Elena knows failure is not an option - even if the task is impossible. Because this time, it's not a wayward vamp she has to track. It's an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other - and pull her to the razor's edge of passion. Even if the hunt does not destroy her, succumbing to Raphael's seductive touch just might. For when archangels play, mortals break.

Its Been Awhile

It has been awhile since I've come across an author I just couldn't put down. Nalini Singh is quite the storyteller. She keeps you on the edge of your seat--so to speak--waiting for what comes next. The plot line is well paced. The romantic line is drawn right down to the wire--just when you are fed up with the tension, things start to happen. My only complaint is the narrator. I hated her voice--its like a cross between a whine and a morning-croak. Extremely grating. She was a good reader, her voice was just horrible though. If that was an affectation for the book, she should lose it.

I love this book!!!!

This book has everything I enjoy a bad ass female; an Alpha Male; murder mystery; sarcasm and lets not forget love. The only thing I would change is to add to the story is the world history of how angels and vampires are known was always apart of the way of life? Singhe doesn’t say. But this series is worth the time.

I received this book free of charge for an honest review. kinda predictable for the supernatural meets heroin story line, but I enjoyed it none the less and wouldn't mind seeing more, I like the vampire aspect

Good story , bad narration

I love the story , but the narration is so bad , that I had to stop and listen to some other books , Justine always makes the females Sound whyyni and I just cant take it when it from my point of view is a female with a strong character
So if the books came out with a different narrator like jill redfield or brianna bronte , it would be great !

Enjoyed this book

Any additional comments?

I really ended up liking this book and have since read up to #5 in the series. its hard to find a good paranormal series that has something new and doesn't end up ridiculous. this a good series, actually like it better than psy-changeling.

Performer sounds old

This is a great series. However, the performer sounded alot older than the main character she was performing. Once I got past the age diffrence I really enjoyed this listen.

Great start to a series

I love Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changling and Rock Kiss series, so I decided to check out her Guild Hunter series, and I’m glad I did. Lots of world building in this book and it’s an interesting world. The hierarchy of species is archangels on top, followed by angels, followed by vampires ending with humans. Here the vampires are made by the angels and are theoretically slaves to the angels and archangels. However, while some are slaves, it seems most are trusted team members. The group of 10 archangels have split the world into regions with each region controlled by one archangel. Raphael, who is not very likeable at first, rules the New York/Eastern Americas region. Elena is a vampire hunter member of the Guild. The angels contract with the Guild hunters to get rid of wayward vampires and she has special senses, which help make her very good at her job. However, this job is for tracking an archangel that has gone rouge vampire and is killing everything at random and a lot. A good start to a series, I have put the rest of the series on my “to be read” list. The audio is very well done by Justine Eyre.

This was a great start to a series! While I love paranormal, this is my first book that I have ventured into angels/archangels. It did not disappoint. Elena kicked butt and I loved her personality and strength. The book seemed to have flown by and I really don't feel like it gave me near my fill of this world. Can't wait to start the next one!
