In this stunning business fiction debut, Patrick Lencioni delivers a powerful wake-up call to all of us who dare to lead.
Young, ambitious, and overwhelmed, Andrew O'Brien personifies a part of every leader as he wanders in search of the elusive silver bullet that will propel him to success. He happens upon an unlikely guide who distills the seemingly infinite list of leadership perils into the five temptations of a CEO. In an intense and often combative exchange, the two debate fundamental issues faced by all leaders -- issues involving personal integrity and effectiveness in the ongoing struggle for success. While some of these topics have been bandied about in the leadership literature for years, here they actually begin to make sense.
Refreshingly original and utterly compelling, Andrew's story will serve as a timeless and potent reminder that success as a leader can come down to practicing a few simple behaviors -- behaviors that are painfully difficult for each of us to master.©1998 Patrick Lencioni; (P)1998 Simon & Schuster, Inc. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a CEO. My Exco team has been challenged in the same manner to ask the thought questions and see how we can be more conscious of these 5 temptations

Great Reflection Tool

Another good one by Patrick Lencioni! I'm a big fan of fables. "The Five Temptations of a CEO" is a leadership fable that explores common pitfalls that can hinder executive effectiveness. Through the story of a struggling CEO, Lencioni reveals temptations such as prioritizing personal status over results and choosing harmony over productive conflict. The narrative made these concepts relatable and prompted me to reflect on my own leadership habits. The insights are thought-provoking and encourage self-examination. For anyone in a leadership position seeking to avoid common traps and enhance their impact, this book is well WORTH your time (listen to the others in this series as well!)

WORTH it!

I’m once again simultaneously challenged and encouraged by Pat Lencioni’s leadership advice - eager to put it into action. Pray that I keep doing so over the long-haul!

Easy to remember, hard to implement, important advice for liters

after a failed merger I should have trusted my instincts pre merger re issues handing over startup to someone that would never be open to the wisdom in this book

should be required for BOD and CEOs
