This is audiobook #3 in the Casca Series.

Casca awoke from a drugged sleep and saw his spear thrust into the side of the man on the cross. His spear...lost when he was sent from Judea! It wasn't a vision - it was the beginning of a threat which would follow Casca through eternity, and cost him the use of his hand.

As Doctor Goldman is soon to learn, it is just the beginning of an adventure which would take Casca behind the Great Wall of the Hidden Empire, China. He would rise to the position of War Lord, and heir to the throne, only to be buried alive at the whim of a frustrated royal concubine.

I am relatively new to the Casca series. This is the third Casca book I've read. Barry Sadler spins a good yarn.

In this submission, Casca travels across Asia to honor the recommendations of an old friend.

Enjoyable

the casca series is by far, fills that itch for macho pulp.
that may be the wrong way to describe this soldiers tale of immortality. Its crude, lots of swear words, lots of violence, lots of sex, and i hate to say it, but i love every two fisted drinking word of it. Casca is brilliant. if you like pulp fiction (the movie) kill bill, or the hateful eight, This is your new jam!

not for the sensitive reader.

this is book 3 of the series. The narrator, as always, is one of the best. My only complaint, is that the chapters of the book do not line up with the audible chapters. So you'll be on chapter 5 in the actual book but you'll still be reading chapters 3 but other than that there were no problems. The story is a pretty good one, and had a couple of surprises in the beginning. the end was a little soft however but I look forward to reading the next one.

A decent story.
