I thought I hated the format of the book, with the "story" of the meetings and the people...I thought it was really cheesy. However, I must say I felt there was great info in the book, and I am going to listen to it a second time to really get all the concepts that I can then put into action. I do feel the info learned here is valid and will be helpful. In addition I read "if I have to tell you one more time" and it melds nice with this book. Same type of principles, but with more action plan specifics. I think the two together will really benefit my parenting.

Good info kind of cheesy presentation

it wasn't bad. used very similar techniques as in the previous talk to little kids books. the audio recording itself is fine but the authors have a thick accent which takes away from the audio book.

still worth it if you read previous book on kids

Admittedly this book was written in 2005, so some of the nuances of modern life are a bit off. I think overall for a parent just trying to connect a little more with their child this is a good way to start that journey.

Needs updated writings

This was easy to listen to, narrated by the two authors. The suggestions were framed by the test group that the narrators used to try out their ideas on communication with teens. This was effective as their ideas really take trial and application to be effective and the examples of how parents put their ideas into practice made things real. As helpful as this all was, I did feel that a lot more could have been covered--the book seemed short--but the authors seem to agree with this as they end the book with a picture of parents continuing to discuss their struggles in a group.

Lovely, but felt like I wanted more by the end
