New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan hails Amanda Ashley as a master storyteller. In this seductive paranormal romance, two young lovers risk death and heartbreak to be together. Vampire Erik Delacourt is on the hunt for a Blood Thief who destroyed one of his closest friends and is draining the blood from young vampires across the city. Into his world comes Daisy O’Donnell, a young woman Erik feels a strong need to protect. But Daisy is hardly the wilting flower she appears to be.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was ok. The romance was alright, but the story seemed forced. Daisy just did not develop well enough to be believable as a daring second generation blood thief. Erik's falling for her was predictable and his character was a little shallow. Some of the things he said, like calling his love "Daisy-darlin" was plain silly and didn't work. He had the opportunity to be a deep, dark, alluring hero-type, but did not rise to the task. Jennifer Ikeda's narration is lovely, yet a bit more character distinction would have brought my rating to a '5.'

What could Amanda Ashley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Strengthen Daisy's character. Develop the conflict of Daisy's human vs vampire key plot point. The paranormal abilities of the vamps was a bit tough to take. Too many talents housed in one type of creature make the reader raise an eyebrow and it detracted from the story.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

As written, no editing: NO

Any additional comments?

A worthwhile investment, but I probably wont re-read it or the next installment. I like more depth and history or believable plot surrounding my sci-fi.

Not bad, but not very deep

the similarities to A Discovery of Witches is astounding yet this book appears to have been published 1st???? and that book went on to be a best seller. in any case I loved them both

This book was not worth the money I spent for it,no feeling of suspence,no thrill. I kept waiting to be exited by something in the book. I had recently listened to a 4hr book for less money that was so,so, much better then this.

Bored out of mind.
