About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Bob Mayer, writing as Robert Doherty....

Deep in the Nevada desert is the most secure compound in the United States: Area 51.

The most chilling experiment of all time is about to begin there. The President doesn’t know about it. Just a few scientists and military personnel working for Majestic-12 do, and they are about to make a very big mistake....

Former Green Beret Mike Turcotte, assigned to Nightscape, security for Area 51, begins to realize things aren’t as they seem. Deep inside the Great Pyramid in Giza, an archeologist makes a startling discovery in the lowest chamber. On Easter Island, what are the giant statues guarding? What was Thule and why were the Nazis so intent on finding it during World War II? What are the strange stones off the coast of Bimini? All these clues and more add up to a frightening countdown that could bring about the end of our planet. Turcotte and Presidential Science Adviser Lisa Duncan must race against time to save the world from the secret hidden at Area 51.

Over 1.5 Million copies of Area 51 sold—also author of the best-selling Atlantis series.

Praise for Bob Mayer: "Spell-binding! Will keep you on the edge of your seat. Call it techno-thriller, call it science fiction, call it just terrific story-telling.” (Terry Brooks, best-selling author of the Shannara series and Star Wars: Phantom Menace)

Cool Your Spurs

You Sci Fi lovers will enjoy this book. This author joined with Jennifer Crusie was the reason I took this long ball chance on a Sci Fi story. I am not into that genre as it takes more concentrated effort on my part to keep up with the author. One reviewer said FUN so I took a chance as Bob teamed in Crusie books are so out loud laughable. I own them all. Publishers summery is spot on so no need to add to it. Mr Mayer brings the macho ranger to his stories with Ms Crusie and he does so in this story,BUT no fun. Good old fashion “I got your six.”. Good premise , clever journey and team players but way too long for me so I had to keep returning to chapters to catch up with the author’s train of thought. Frankly, for me it was a military manual at times.,,,so unless a reviewer tells me which book has author sense of humor, his military and Sci Fi books are not for me. I did use the 1.2 x speed and it is great, give it a try.

A really good read -- listen.

Narrated by Jeffrey Kafer this is a production more than a normal audio book. This narrator is amazing.

A highly entertaining book with enough twists and turns to keep the most avid reader turning the pages one after the other.

The introduction to the book was enough of a hook for me to immediately fall in love with the story.

The plot is complicated but not overly so. The author obviously spend a lot of time with research and the confidence he wrote the book with is in part due to his knowledge of the subject of ancient gods, runes and superstitions.

In all the plot is really highly entertaining.
The main protagonists has an anti hero to set off their moral backbone and later in the book a second such a character becomes obvious due to his actions. All in all the characters, especially the at one stage bad guy and the current nut job is the characters that undergoes the biggest character development.

The world building is superb. Again due to the authors knowledge of the subject matter, the reader is taken into parts of the world that is known by few and seen by even fewer.
If I could sell it to a prospective buyer with a sentence then it would read --- aliens, conspiracy and technology hunted after by Hitler and the American army alike, both for the same reasons.

The atomic bomb….it might not have been our own technology. To learn more, you need to read this book!

"Ten Star" all the way!

A real page turner but NOT "brain candy." - Many characters, each with a well defined role within the subplots. Some audiobooks can be listened to on "autopilot" - (not this one) - get the most out of this novel by careful listening and actually follow the subplots. There is believable science fiction, believable intrigue, believable action and suspense. The author has expertly interwoven the facets into a spectacular "page turner." Not one "page" of this book was superfluous. Not one paragraph was boring. You will be spellbound from the beginning to the end. Wish I could have rated this book a "ten star" but unfortunately, we're limited to a five-star only. You definitely will not be disappointed.

Wow! Everything a UFO buff could dream of

Any additional comments?

I loved this book! It was the first one in a long time that I wanted to listen to all the way through. The author blends all the story lines of Ancient Aliens, UFOs, conspiracies, Ancient pyramids, and similar theories into a cohesive and well though out story. The characters are likeable. No silly romance side stories. It moves quickly but is easy to follow and actually makes a lot of sense. The main characters are diverse with an archeologist, journalist, special ops soldier, old Nazi scientist, presidential aide all coming together to form a team to solve the mystery. Excellent narration. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes this type of book. I will listen to it again and again. Very enjoyable with a fast pace that never lags.

A Good Read

I have enjoyed this series a lot so far, it has a good mix of action and Sci/fi which anyone who likes this genre should enjoy. I think the narrator has done a very good job bringing the different characters to life in the stories.

I was surprised

At first, I didn't think this was going to be my "cup of tea," but as the story advanced, I found myself more and more interested. If you'd asked me after my first 3 or 4 hours of listening, I would have told you I don't intend to download the second book. Now I'm adding it to my wishlist.

Is this fiction or non-fiction

The book takes off right from the start. Overall there was no down time or long introductions for the characters. Instead you get the basics and learn as the story moves along. The book was nonstop and continued a consistent flow while maintaining ones interest the entire time.

Throughout the book, there were so many references to actual places and actual events throughout history at times I wonder if this was a documentary.

I will admit I have a question or two about the ending, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed the book and the narration.
