“Eloisa James is extraordinary.”
—Lisa Kleypas

In the capable hands of USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James, the fairy tales we loved as children take on vibrant—and sensuous—new life. With The Duke is Mine, the beloved author of A Kiss at Midnight and When Beauty Tamed the Beast gives the classic tale of the Princess and the Pea a delightfully romantic Regency spin. Fans of Victoria Alexander and Julia Quinn will simply adore this historical romance gem about a lady reluctantly betrothed to one duke but pursued by another; a tantalizing tale of love, lies, and one very uncomfortable mattress.

The story was original and well performed. Olivia was a wonderful heroine, who was portrayed as having the spunk and skills to be a duchess. It was a believable and enjoyable listen.

I think Eloisa James is among my favourite historical romance novelists. Her writing is smart, funny, and I'm never disappointed. This addition to her fairy tales is fantastic. Her characters come to life so easily in our imaginations with her descriptions and the way she makes them interact with one another. I would recommend this one in a heartbeat.

Any additional comments?

This was a good book, although there were some lulls in it, this is her twist on the princess and the pea!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Duke Is Mine to be better than the print version?

First I have to admit I'm a huge Eloisa James fan. Her historical romances are like mini history lessons. She's spot on in the period she stages her books which makes them seem so real. From the description of clothing to the use of vocabulary and inventions the reader is swept away to another time and place. No mushy throbbing chests and heaving bosoms, her characters suffer from real people problems which makes them relatable and likeable. I loved every minute and was sad when it ended.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rupert, he was so honest and naive that you couldn't not love him. (a whole lot of bad grammar, but it fits).

What about Susan Duerden???s performance did you like?

I like her reading. Her English accent was pleasing and very concise. She made each character a real person and made me care about them individually.

Susan Duerdan and the luscious sexy voice of the Male are what makes these audios so enchanting. The author has chosen the perfect narrative voices for these stories. I can hardly wait for the next series. Suzie
