Once Leota's garden was a place of beauty - where flowers bloomed and hope thrived. It was her refuge from the deep wounds inflicted by a devastating war, her sanctuary where she knelt before a loving God and prayed for the children who couldn't understand her silent sacrifices. At 83, Leota is alone; her beloved garden is in ruins. All her efforts to reconcile with her adult children have been fruitless. She voices her despair to a loving Father, her only friend. And God brings a wind of change through unlikely means: one, a college student who thinks he has all the answers; the other, the granddaughter Leota never hoped to know. But can the devastation wrought by keeping painful family secrets be repaired before she runs out of time?

beautiful story, however, I was waiting for the punch line of the story the whole time. I hated that Yoda died before making peace with her daughter however I do believe that that is how the world Works things are never perfect. The ending was what really got me though. I wish it had a stronger and then than what it is.

I actually prefer the very first Christian book written by Francine Rivers: Redeeming Love

Nice

This is an oldie, but goodie. One of my favorite Francine Rivers books, this is the story of an old woman who feels she has lost her usefulness. She is questioning the point of her life, and has become something of a curmudgeon. As the story unfolds, you see how God has a plan for the youngest and the oldest among us. Francine Rivers is able to help you get into the mind and heart of her characters like no other author I know. You feel the despair and loneliness; the hope and joy. It is a roller coaster ride. Be prepared for a "not-so-idyllic" ending. I understand why she wrote it as she did, but I didn't like it. Don't get me wrong, she wraps up the ending in a satisfactory way, but this one particular part of it (I won't say what it is!) you won't like. Even so, this is a fabulous story and a MUST read.

Great story! Can't say enough about it.

I loved this story and it could have gone on for a few more chapters.

I cried through most of this because I can relate to the struggles this family deals with. Beautifully written!

Beautiful story!

Leota's Garden was an awesome, spiritual journey into the garden of life. The comparisons are lessons to remember. It is actually causing me to start a garden and appreciate the magnificent beauty of God, the sacrifices that were made and the love that was given to each of us in a garden.

Excellent!!
