Nine years after Rom Sebastian was thrust into the most unlikely of circumstances as hero and bearer of an unimaginable secret, the alliance of his followers is in disarray. An epic battle with The Order has left them scattered and deeply divided both in strategy and resolve in their struggle to become truly alive and free.

Only 49 truly alive followers remain loyal to Rom. This meager band must fight for survival as The Order is focused on their total annihilation. Misunderstood and despised, their journey will be one of desperation against a new, more intensely evil Order. As the hand of this evil is raised to strike and destroy them they must rely on their faith in the abiding power of love to overcome all and lead them to sovereignty.

SOVEREIGN wonderfully continues the new testament allegory that was introduced in FORBIDDEN and continued in MORTAL.

Critic reviews

Praise for FORBIDDEN:

"...mammoth twists and head-pounding turns that will have readers and book clubs debating the roles of emotion and logic that drive human existence."
--- Publishers Weekly

Dekker and Lee have created an intriguing future world...poised on the edge of vast upheaval. [They] draw readers into it and make them eager to read more..."
--- Booklist

"With great plot twists, compelling writing, and unanswered questions, this is a must-read for Dekker fans..."
--- Library Journal

"FORBIDDEN: The Books of Mortals rocks with the same level of intensity and brilliance as Dekker's Circle Series. Riveting, resounding, and a magnificent blend of Dekker's and Lee's styles. I devoured FORBIDDEN."
--- James L. Rubart, bestselling author

Awesome Journey!

I waited through three books for Jonathan to show himself a hero and king. I was disappointed to find that the story ends with Jonathan on a more spiritual realm only quasi supporting those that follow him.
Ted as always writes in a way that makes you want to continue reading. In this book however I kept reading hoping for a crescendo that never appeared.

Unsatisfying ending to the trilogy

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book because I thought it was a unique and powerful way to describe the human spirit as it may be reflected in a physical world. I think that after reading this book it definitely helped the rest of the series make sense. Plus the good guys prevailed and that made me feel good too.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sovereign?

Probably about 2/3 of the way through when the allegory really started making sense.

Which character – as performed by Henry Leyva – was your favorite?

Probably Rom.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I have only one word: Surrender.

Any additional comments?

Overall it wasn't easiest read for me. But I gave it 5 stars bc it challenged me, and entertained me, and when the allegory really started to make sense the macabre scenes that are so prevalent didn't seem to bother me so.

Spirit world acted out in physical stage...

Loved it. it's worth a "re- read". Start with the 1st book in the series, Forbidden. Then the 2nd. Immortal. It all comes together in this one. Love Ted Dekker.
