How do you keep the people you care about safe from enemies you can’t remember? Ten years ago, Nate Garrett awoke on a cold warehouse floor with no memory of his past and the only clues to his identity were a piece of paper with his name on it and a propensity toward magic. Now he’s a powerful sorcerer and a successful thief for hire, but it turns out that those who stole his memories aren’t done with him yet. When they cause a job to go bad, threatening a sixteen-year-old girl, Nate swears to protect her. But with his enemies closing in and the barrier holding back his memories beginning to crumble, Nate is forced to confront his forgotten life in the hope of stopping an enemy he can’t remember. Crimes Against Magic is a dark, fast-paced urban fantasy torn between modern-day London and fifteenth-century France.

This book is like the Dresden files only in the fact that he is urban fantasy other than that they're completely different Harry Dresden is a man who has morals whereas this man has no problem with wholesale slaughter.

Great urban fantasy.

(not).. A new Favorite author and narrator... If Someone is a fan of Kevin Hearne, Steve Mc Hugh should fit the bill ...

Arthurian legend well done, this book had me hooked pretty quickly. The use of amnesia as a plot device manages to lose it's cliche by having part of the story be told from the main character's past. They manage to introduce a lot magical concepts without boring the listener too much with exposition. My biggest gripe comes at the very end of the book. Without spoilers, I will say that the last 10 minutes turn out to be a gigantic cop-out.

Langton is mediocre as a narrator. His voices are good, you are never really confused about who is talking, but he is too, for lack of a better word, casual when narrating. He doesn't ever seem to get excited, so action scenes don't really have the punch that they should. Once you get used to his voice, it gets a little better, but someone with more variation would have done a great service to this book.

An Almost Perfect Beginning

A really great book for me is one that I wish to listen to again. The character development is very good, the story is unique and has many directions it can move towards. The narrator is exceptional.
