In this brand-new Grimnoir Chronicles story written exclusively for Audible, it's 1937 - four years after the Grimnoir Society defeated the magical alien force known as The Power. "Heavy" Jake Sullivan is summoned by his oddest ally, Dr. Wells, to stop the bombing of a new ultra-luxury airship. Amid the glitz, the gambling, and the high-society types, Sullivan races time to hunt for the saboteur. But surrounded by a blimp-full of Germans, Russians, Imperium Iron Guard, and other magical enemies - where can he even begin?

Murder on the Orient Elite is available free through 01/01/15.

Correia has a huge following and it is easy to see why. He has carved out his own little niche. It is noir detective attitude, with Grimoire Magic, sometimes with grim results. It is not totally Steampunk, not totally Clockwork, but all alternative history. Buckminster Fuller was mentioned in the story and I had to look him up, knowing I had heard the name before. I had thought he invented geodesic domes, but turns out he did not, but he made them famous. He was an inventor and even worked on an air car.

This little story has Germans, Japs, Russian Spies, Commie Bastards, The Titanic (having never sunk), Blimps, Robots, Iron Guards, Magic, Fade Magic and Jake Sullivan who has control over gravity. It is all done in a fifties setting.

If you have not read Correia, this would be an excellent place to start. Some of his other works are fairly long. I am not a big fan of his writing, but I do appreciate his genius and creativity.

Pinchot is a great narrator.

Larry Correia/Jake Sullivan by Bronson Pinchot is as good as audiobooks get. I just wish it was longer. Great

Grimnoir kicks it

It's got the Correia flair, and I enjoyed it. Jake Sullivan is a fun character. But I'm not sure how enjoyable it will be to someone who hasn't read the Grimnoir trilogy (as I have), although there's a lot of set-up in the beginning to establish the world and powers. It ends with a tantalizing hint that there might be to come in the Grimnoir universe.

Straightforward, with flair

Again, Larry succeeded in creating great story even though it didn't last long. Hopefully this is just a beginning of new, full-length novel.

Short and sweet :)
