This book by Michael Olpin, a top-notch stress expert, and Sam Bracken, a no-longer-stressed-out writer, stands out from other books on stress management in one significant way: its "whole-person" approach. Unwind! is about optimizing your body, heart, mind, and soul, recognizing that any and all of these dimensions of your life affect your anxiety level. It helps you get clear about who you are as well as your priorities and goals. The authors show you how to take charge of your life and how to make better choices that will prevent stress in the first place.

The authors explore seven key paradigm shifts, from reactive to proactive; unmotivated to inspired; pressured to prioritized; hassled to harmonious; anxious to empathic; defensive to diverse; and tense to tranquil. Delving deep into each of these paradigm shifts, readers learn how to prevent most of the daily stresses people typically experience, by getting at the roots of stressors.

I'm not even sure when or why I bought this book. But it couldn't have come at a more dire time. I was one that was always able to manage stress better than most. Until the day came that I hit low of low. I was literally killing myself from the inside. In effort to stem the spiral I went to look at what books I had downloaded but never got a chance to read. I came across this one. It help me reset and return to the living

the best part of the book is when the author clarifies that of all the things that stress us out, the vast majority of them aren't actually stressful or threatening. rather, we CHOOSE to be stressed out. yes, sometimes we have a few scary moments during a drive but for the most part we arent being attacked by snakes, bears, or dangerous people. that said, we can have peqce of mind in the NOW. we live in a very safe, secure time, in which we don't face ACTUAL threats that trigger our fight or flight instincts. that said, the things that stress us out are thinking about 'stressful events of the past or potential future stressors rather tham staying at peace in the present moment

nothing is really a threat

Although I thought the book got a bit preachy at certain points, it was definitely worth the read. It led me to done serious insight on how to commit to lowering my stress levels and honoring that commitment. Highly recommended.

Good book. Useful.
