In his long career, eminent psychotherapist and author Irvin Yalom has pressed his patients and readers to grapple with life's two greatest challenges: that we all must die, and that each of us is responsible for leading a life worth living. In Creatures of a Day, he and his patients confront the difficulty of these challenges. Although these people have come to Yalom seeking relief, recognition, or meaning, they discover that such things are rarely found in the places where we think to look.

Like Love's Executioner and Yalom's other writings, Creatures of a Day lays bare the necessary task we each face every day: to make our own lives meaningful.

Yalom's writing resonated deeply with me - it addresses many hard topics, but mostly the fear of mortality or fear of loss of our loved ones, in a loving and respectful manner. I also liked the subtle humor Dr. Yalom engages in most of his stories. I have recommended this book to others, and hope to sometime listen to more books by this author. I have no life-threatening condition at the moment but went through a lot of personal growth when I was helping my friend cope with a loss of a child through an accident, and coping with my own feelings and fears regarding my own children.
My advice - get the book, read it, you will not regret it, it is not depressing at all - I would say it is actually liberating and uplifting!!!!

I can't wait to read his other books

I loved listening to this audible, it gave me insight and made me reflect on my on impending death. Although I currently do not have any illness but we all are standing in an imaginary line waiting for our time to run out. Until then I will make sure to enjoy my time here. Thank Dr. Yalom.

I like listening to stories about patients and their psychological problems. This was an interesting story that shared the lives of 10 patients and their psychiatrist. I want to look for other similar books by him.
