Some people are born boring. Some live boring. Some even die boring. Fred managed to do all three, and when he woke up as a vampire, he did so as a boring one.

Timid, socially awkward, and plagued by self-esteem issues, Fred has never been the adventurous sort. One fateful night - different from the night he died, which was more inconvenient than fateful - Fred reconnects with an old friend at his high school reunion. This rekindled relationship sets off a chain of events thrusting him right into the chaos of the parahuman world: a world with chipper zombies, truck driver wereponies, maniacal necromancers, ancient dragons, and now one undead accountant trying his best to "survive". Because even after it's over, life can still be a downright bloody mess.

Fred, the Vampire Accountant reads more like a collection of short stories, or perhaps it would be better compared to a television series. The characters are an interesting lovable bunch, and it plays like a series with everything wrapping up at the end of each tale, but with tidbits hinting at a long overarching story. I don't think it will ever win any awards for complexity, but Fred, the Vampire Accountant is a pleasant listen that will make you laugh. There seems to be plenty of set-up for a second volume, and I enjoyed this one enough to look forward to a sequel. As a final note, I will say Kirby Heyborne (the Narrator) seemed especially well suited for the main character.

A light, humorous detour through the paranormal

Well worth a credit, or the cost. Performance was excellent, story was very entertaining. The kind you hope turns into a series. Kind of reminded me of Dresden.

Very enjoyable

What made the experience of listening to The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant the most enjoyable?

The dialogue was well done, narration easy to listen...but the storyline was difficult to piece together. Crux of the story could have been told in 20 chapters...but the longer it continued, the more confusing it became...maybe confusing isn't the correct word...uninteresting might be better. The setup of the story was plausible (in a fantasy type way) but quickly lost comprehension once Amy came into the picture.

Interesting Concept...Lost in Translation

I was impressed by both the story line and the Narrator. The only Complaint I have is that the story line could have been a little bit more in depth possibly the author could write a second book along this same story line. It was good.

Really a great read

The audio book is by no means bad. The narration is good and the individual stories it contains are fine. Even the world building, while not unique anymore with other series having done similar monsters/myths-are-all-around-us, settings; is decently well done.
The novel overall is....dull.
I was not terribly engaged nor particularly even interested in what was going to happen.
I can't say it goes as far as being "Utterly Uninteresting", it rather stops at just Uninteresting.
I would not bother picking up the next in the series.
*Note* I have and continue to, enjoy many of Drew Hayes' other novels.

Lives up to most of its title
