Love and hate...

So, these books drive me crazy. I realize it is a YA series... but the main character is the most immature, codependent, narcissistic, irritating fictional character ever. Except I can’t stop listening to them, either. I literally spend half of the time listing rolling my eyes at her irritating personality, but then can’t wait to see what happens next. I’m so confused about my feelings here. That lead character must be rubbing off on me! Now pardon me while I go download the next one. I’m hoping she matures as this continues...

frustrating

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so much that I gave it 5 stars. The second one.. well, I found myself yelling at the audible narrator quite a bit. In my opinion, Mare was quite selfish in this book. Hell, she even mentioned a few times that she knew she was more important than the rest. I have No idea why... really... Then all of a sudden she would say she cared, of course that only lasted while it suited her.
i really like the story, but I am not sure if I will read the next book, because I found Mare so bloody annoying!
Cal is too good for her, that is the only reason I can come with as to why so many people are rooting for Maven and Mare to get back together. I don't know if this book would have been better if I would have read it or if the audible version improved it. UGH.. so frustrated!

Cal You GOT THIS!! WOW!!! THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!! I HOPE IT COMES OUT SOON!! THIS NARRATOR BRINGS EVERYONE TO LIFE PERFECT!!

Listened and lamented

After being underwhelmed in the first book, can't say that I feel any better here. Had I not already read Hunger Games, Divergent, Unwanteds, Uglies etc. I might have been more positive about this. Kept hoping that we would get a twist, such as the first person narration being revealed as a biased or skewed interpretation of events. It's not bad writing, just a bit overshadowed by better stories.
