The crime seems to have Reyna's father at its centre, but investigating it inevitably brings Reyna closer to the childhood events he's purposely erased from his memory. He is also confronted by his half brothers, who have their own agenda and seem intent on protecting the family name from any implication of wrongdoing.

Reyna's choice, then, is either to push through the resistance and risk what he might reveal about his past or to forsake the strange, windswept Faroe Islands for good. His decision will change the lives of everyone around him, but the truths he's already uncovered can't be reburied.

Slow going to an unsatisfactory end
Main character not particularly likable and one dimensional throughout

Good Until It Wasn't 😕

I enjoyed a lot of this book, learning about the Danish Faroe Islands especially. I liked the main character, Jan Reyna, a British detective, returned to his birth place to confront a father he never really knew. I already had the next book in the series saved to my wish list . . . but after the way the story fizzled out at the end, I took it out. There seemed to be no resolutions made, and if there's one thing I can't stand, is a NON ENDING.

Sad when it was finished. I want the next one.

Great book

I’m traveling to the Faroes later this year and wanted to listen to a novel to inspire me ahead of my trip. This was a great book and I’m happy I downloaded it.

A Deeply Satisfying Police Procedural

This was a great novel and police procedural. It started rather slowly, but getting my momentum and the characters Where will drawn. I finished it wanted to read the rest of the series.
