Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my!

Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why Jessica James, recent college graduate and perpetual level-headed good girl, has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life. His friendly smiles make her tongue-tied and weak-kneed, and she's never been able to move beyond her childhood crush. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can't stand him, and she's pretty sure he can't stand the sight of her....

But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. She has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane's disdain; therefore she's unprepared for the reality that is Duane's insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks. Not helping Jessica's muddled mind and good girl sensibilities, Duane seems to have gotten himself in trouble with the local biker gang, the Iron Order.

Certainly, Beau's magic spell is broken. Yet when Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, now more dangerous than ever, how much of her level-headed heart is she willing to risk?

If you read all the books and then go back and re-read, you will hear some discrepancies that make you think "What?" After reading ALL the books, finishing up with grown up Billy and Scarlet -- re-reading the first book and listening to Claire/Scarlet talk about what a great love she had for her dead husband is so confusing because it completely does not match the last book story and her revelations from Billy and to Billy about her life with Ben. I wish, if you plan to start a series, that authors keep these little details in mind. Another one is in the book about Ashley. In the books prior to that one, the brothers talk about how they all want to protect Ashley and how much they love her, blah...blah....blah.... but in Ashley's book - she's been gone from home for some years and living in Chicago. When she does go back home, because the mother is sick, she is genuinely surprised at how well the boys are doing. She had no idea that Beau, Duane and Cletus were the proprietors of an auto repair shop? She had no idea that Billy wore suits to work everyday? How close could they be if she doesn't even know these small details? She left town and forgot all about her brothers? It's these little things that make me crazy is series books. IMHO.

This is a great series, but

I think the author does a great job of character development. I liked the way the book spoke from both the male and female point of view. It was very funny and readable. I didnt realize this was going to be such a steamy book, but turned out to be fun

Funny and relatable.

I read this story years ago so I decided to give it a listen so I could finally continue on with the series! I love that Penny Reid write her female characters strong and brilliant in addition to extremely quirky. Jessica and Duane were great, their banter and the antagonism at the beginning had me hooked!

Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley did a great job narrating and bringing the characters to life, they pulled off the southern accents wonderfully!
