She's scarred by her past.

Andrea Evans is traumatized and guilt-ridden by the death of her fiancée. Tired of the gossiping small town, she travels to New York City to pursue her dream of dance. He's uncertain of his future.

Cooper Davidson is a famous photographer and reality television star trying to flee from his own life filled with paparazzi, mental health clinics, and a cheating wife who is pregnant.

When Andrea and Cooper's paths cross, they realize how damaged and in need of escapism they both are. The two create an arrangement to explore the space in between chaos and order with one another. The rules are simple - no emotional connections, no talking about the past, no speaking of the future, and when one finds order, the other walks away. All is well until Cooper accidentally falls in love with Andrea.

Great characters, but the story had too many gaps in it. Trying to keep who was connected to whom whose secrets were connected. I love Brittainy Cherry’s work. This just wasn’t up to her usual standards.

Loved the characters, but not the story.

Brittainy Cherry can write amazing works of art, but I’m sad to say this wasn’t one of them. The female narrator makes it so much worse. I am sorry to say I couldn’t finish the audio.

Eh... Not one of her best

What really got me about this book was how completely broken both of these characters are. Its not perfect at all and Cooper and Andrea make a ton of mistakes. But I think that's what made them feel so human. They were spiraling and they held onto each other for life. Its safe to say they found solace in each other for all the wrong reasons and probably needed to figure out their own stuff before hooking up. But not sure how many people actually take that advice. There were moments between then when things were good and there was a light at the end of their dark tunnel. Them getting past their pain and learning to let all the baggage go would lead to a possibly great relationship between them. No what I didn't care for was the way they took jabs at each other or how Andreas family treated her friend because she was black. Everyone knew it was wrong, including Andrea and she never stepping in when her mother said some foul stuff. Kate and Brian were great.

I’m starting to see a pattern with Brittainy’s books. In most of them there are dead-beat dads who either are drug addicts, abusive, or alcoholics. I am wondering if she has had to deal with that in her life? Regardless, she always writes about broken people who deal with so much. Her books are not always easy to read because they pull at your heartstrings. Yes, they mostly have happy endings, but the journey to get there is not an easy task. I suppose that is what it is like in real life. Loved ones die, fathers leave, partners cheat, and hearts are broken, but love can conquer some of those hurts. This is why I love reading her stories because there’s always hope because no matter how bad things get, you can still have a happy ending to your life.

This wasn’t my favorite of all her books, but it was still good and the narrators did a pretty good job with their performances.

Another win for Brittainy

The female reader was so distracted that I couldn’t finish. I cringed when she read the sex part. I gave four stars for Brian and he is one of my favorite narrators. I’ve listened other stories from this author before and I liked most of them except this one.
