The narration was great

The authenticity of the story. I enjoy reading the story. Louis LA mour is the best of western fiction writers even now.

Good storyline

One of the better L.L’Amour books I’ve listened to. It was good story with easy listening.

Not one of the L'amour's formulaic hits but good

Many of Louie Lamour's classic westerns are somewhat formulaic. Funny though, I still like them all. This one is different and shows a father's love for his son and a desire to teach him the right way. This book is also about 60% of the length of his normal epics.

great story and the voices really packed a punch.

I really enjoyed the book and it's presentation. The voices made me feel and I wanted to join in the gunfight at the end when James Brionne shot and destroyed the men the burned his house down. Now for the next book.

A new frontiersman

Brionne was an interesting and beautifully written tale of a widower and son trying to make a fresh start after the Civil War. The characters are typical of Mr L’Amour with a few uncertainties and twists. But it’s the location and description of the times and places that show the love of this author for the country he adores. He also mentions Sir Walter Scott in so many of his books that I have to do some research. Eric Sanger is one of my favorite readers for the L’Amour books and he does them all justice. It’s well worth a listen, hope you enjoy it as much as I.
