Publisher's summary

He left the West at the age of seventeen, leaving behind a rootless past and a bloody trail of violence. In the East he became one of the wealthiest financiers in America—and one of the most feared and hated.

Now, suffering from incurable cancer, he has come back to New Mexico to die alone. But when an all-out range war erupts, Flint chooses to help Nancy Kerrigan, a local rancher. A cold-eyed speculator is setting up the land swindle of a lifetime, and Buckdun, a notorious assassin, is there to back his play.

Flint alone can help Nancy save her ranch…with his cash, his connections—and his gun. He still has his legendary will to fight. All he needs is time, and that’s fast running out….

Classic

My father introduced me to this book years ago, and what a delight to listen to again. Classic western.

Best

The master story teller’s best. I’ve read them all . I grew up next to Zane Grey Altadena home and read much of his work while stationed in the Artic.

Great Story

Mr. L’Amore tells the best stories. Full of drama and suspense and accurate descriptions of the locales, he always takes the reader on an adventure.

Great story!! Perhaps my favorite Louis Lamour story since I first read it about 50 years ago.

The narration was great and it was enjoyable to be able to listen to it through Audible.

I enjoyed the reader, he made it very easy to feel connected to the story line

I thought the story was enjoyable and eqsy to feel connected. As always the good guy wins and gets the girl.
I was glad that Flint didn’t actually have cancer

My favorite at last

I have been waiting for this one in Audio for a long time. My favorite L'Amour book with all the classic marks of his style.

Beginner to westerns? Look no further

This is my first real western book experience and it was hands down a great one. I wish I could see this as a movie.to think there are so many interesting stories to tell in the Wild West is beyond me. Well paced, well narrated, and engaging throughout, I was hesitant to purchase but it was well worth it. Not overly long as well. In fact I wish I could spend more time in this book and find out what else happens to flint. Only nitpick is that the change between character perspectives is not announced, it just happens sometimes so I got thrown off for a bit if I missed a switch. Other than that it’s great.

Quite different than most of his stories. Louis l’Amour is one of my favorite authors.
