Un intrigante libro

like the narrator, the feeling of the story transfer to a actual time for me. Want to use equipment in real time.

Alright

I had high Hope's for this book as I really like ken's first colony series. The premise is interesting but the story gets bogged down with the sloppy love quadrangle and parts seems like a trashy romance novel. That being said the end was intriguing and i will give the next book a try hopefully it gets better.

A Story Mired by...

...an author's dislike of their own characters (and reality in general). Throughout the story, the only truly pragmatic character is continuously vilified, even though he's almost always right. Also... Kalen (Kaylynne?) is just terrible. She's naive, overtly girlish for a girl who once served in the military, and honestly a blight upon the entire story. Zach was cool, but kind of overeager, kiddish, and overly cooperative for someone who's supposed to be so jaded toward humanity in general. Hick's character is poorly defined, and pretty archetypal and boring. Same with Kate. There's no complexity there, as there's so little content on her that she's more obscure than anything else. Like some B-Roll extra. Of course, this is all before taking account of how utterly annoying all the relationship drama is. (Also, every single NASA person is rather obviously dumbed down to make Zach and Kalen seem "smarter" somehow. It's pretty idiotic and annoying.)

On the bright side, Jeff Hays is on point as always. Ken Pozo to just murders a totally awesome concept.

tl;dr

I would not recommend this book to anyone with a brain that expects some reality in their science fiction. This is the softest Scifi crap I've ever listened to. Stick to Heinlein. Kind of difficult to go wrong there.

A gripping adventure that draws you in!

This book is an awesome thrilling space adventure that reminds me of Stargate in many ways. Ken Lozito is an author I've come to enjoy and this book does not disappoint. Be wary, once you start, you'll be craving more and there are more adventures that follow this one! AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY

Not a self-contained book

There are two kinds of series.
- One is like the Laundry Files. The first story is self-contained, and finishes. It wouldn't matter if you ever read another book. While there are threads that continue, you don't HAVE TO continue to the next. (Although I did. Bob is great.)
- And the other is where each book is like a section of a large "book".
Star Shroud is the second type. It just finishes abruptly, with a cliffhanger. I do not like this type of series. The story is okay, but not enough to my liking to continue to the second book... which means that whole read was a waste.

Interesting premise

There are some interesting ideas that are being developed in this book. This book establishes a well thought world with interesting characters. The narration is terrifically executed.
