New to the Hot Springs PD, Lisa Reynolds was not all that welcomed by her coworkers, especially those who were passed over for the position. But it didn't matter anymore. Her 30-day probation period ended on the same day of the Z-poc's arrival. Overnight the world goes from bad to worse as thousands die in the initial onslaught. National Guard and regular military units deployed the day before to the north leave the city in mayhem. All directions lead to death until one unlikely candidate steps forward with a plan, a plan that became an avalanche culminating into what could be the salvation or destruction of them all. A world of death and devastation, left to be ruled by one very unlikely candidate.

Pretty good zombie tale, not much background on where the virus came from or why, but that seems to be a growing trend with authors in this genre. I suppose in many cases it doesn’t matter as it has no impact or bearing on the core story. We have a new-to-the-area female lieutenant police officer, Lisa Reynolds who makes her debut in the department and the zombie apocalypse. Unlikely as it seems, our gal Lisa becomes the leader of the city’s comeback with her take-charge attitude and positive planning. She enlists competent people into her aggressive proposal who in turn bring in qualified people that they know. Before you know it Lisa has a large number of eager worker bees who want to survive and her plan to succeed. This encompasses book one. Book two continues in this vein of course detailing the group’s development and defense of their position. Furthermore, after a visit from the local National Guard, Lisa is compelled to expand her plan to encompass the entire city; a seemingly impossible task. Lisa is at odds with the job she feels she must do verses the more liberal survivors who see her as an out of control tyrant. Although it seems far-fetched that a police lieutenant finds herself in the role of city-builder, Lisa has her work cut out for her.

Lisa has her work cut out for her.

I couldn't finish the second book. Overall I kept waiting for the story to make sense and grab a theme It was all over the place gangs, serial killers, jealous coworkers, strange hook-ups people being killed because they would be a pain in the ass to protect ! Not much of a story in my opinion about the zombie apocalypse or the zombies. For me it was a odd book and just got more and more boring. The narrator was good.

I'm sorry but this story went from a slow start to boring
