The 9 Types of Leadership demonstrates how to solve people problems on the job in a quick, efficient, and satisfying way through understanding personality patterns and motivations. In the past few years, mindfulness and other approaches to self-awareness have begun to transform the American workplace. But while it is increasingly widely accepted in the business world that the most direct route to success lies in adopting practices that actively promote a leader's self-awareness, social skill, and emotional intelligence, the best and most efficient path to developing a more conscious workforce often remains unclear.

The 9 Types of Leadership provides a pathway to greater self-awareness and social skillfulness. It will help you orient yourself when you get caught up in people problems that you don't know how to work your way out of.

By providing extremely detailed and accurate descriptions of nine recognizable personalities, The 9 Types of Leadership is an unmatched tool for business people to use to decode the mysteries involved in understanding why people do what they do, why we have conflicts with some people but not others, and how we can become aware of our blind spots. Most importantly, it can help leaders know themselves in a deeper way so they can more effectively lead others.

I love this book! This has helped me understand myself better and my coworkers, family as friends. For anyone thinking they are not the leading type should read this and truly see what type they are and to reflect on their weaknesses and to grow as a leader. I liked this book so much I wrote a paper in one of my MBA courses about this topic and integrated this book.

Love this book!

maybe for some people pigeonholing people is into these categories is easy. but a better way to hear this book is to realize that depending on the crisis and the situation, people use all these coping skills to get through life. we all use them all unless we have not experienced certain things yet. then we didn't need to.
9 personalities is really 9 coping skills to adapt.
for example when with my family as the youngest of 6 I become the inclusive mediator. making sure no one is excluded and all voices are heard ( but the why is interesting)
when surrounded by people who are critical and would rather talk about me than to me I become a 5 ( and again the why is pretty cool)
but on my own without naysayers and limits I can be a positive visionary future minded and full of " out of the box thinking. but unless you try to know me you won't know that.
my advice.....do not do ANYONE the injustice of
classifying them in any of these but see them as coping and use their response or " type" to see what they are coping with and help them by being inclusive and understanding. and watch them outside the environment see what other skills they have. the skills they're using is a reflection of what they are dealing with and how they choose to cope right now.

whoever is reading this book is doing it a detriment. she puts a lot of negative emotion into it. like she hates certain personalities because she has had to deal with them. would be much better as AI

is it really black and white?

This book was helpful for me as a leader to better understand how to work with my team, how they process things given their enneagram number, and what helps motivate them in their work. The book is not robotic but the narrator’s voice inflections helped keep it interesting.

Great for leaders

Dr. Chestnut is my favorite Enneagram scholar. I’ve found a great deal of personal enrichment from learning about the model and reading Dr. Chestnut’s books have been a big part of it- she is unparalleled in expanding the ideas around instinctual variants.

I wouldn’t recommend this book as a jumping off point. It would help to already be familiar with the Enneagram system. For those who are already a bit knowledgeable about their type, this book is a very rewarding listen.

Excellent Deep Dive
