From, Lauren Rowe, the USA Today best-selling author of The Club Series and Ball Peen Hammer comes a sexy standalone romance: Captain.

It wasn't the way this kind of story was supposed to go...insta-love isn't supposed to turn into insta-hate. But that's exactly what happened when the hot-as-hell dreamboat I met in a bar turned out to be a lying, cheating scumbag-player-douche looking for nothing but a little side action. Jerk. And he has the nerve to call me a liar and a "sociopath"? Asshole. And now, three months later, through a mind-blowing series of events I couldn't have predicted in a million years, it turns out my boss is marrying his sister in Hawaii and I've got to play nice with him for an entire freaking week. Okay, sure, I'll put on a happy face this week and act like I've never even met the jerk before - did I mention his sister is marrying my boss? - but that doesn't mean I'll like it. And it certainly doesn't mean I'll stop secretly hating the cocky bastard's guts. Because I do. I hate him. I really do. I just wish my brain would explain the situation to my body...because every time he flashes that panty-melting smile at me, it takes all my self-restraint not to jump the bastard's hot-as-f--k bones.

For fans of Ball Peen Hammer and The Club Series, please note Captain features Ryan Morgan and takes place one year before the events of Ball Peen Hammer. It also includes characters from both Ball Peen Hammer and The Club Series, though Captain is a complete standalone.

Too much time spent on the secondary characters (I assume to try to get you interested in their stories so you listen to the other books). Too many, waaaay too many, nicknames thrown around trying to make it feel like there’s chemistry between the secondary characters.

It’s good, I kept listening, but I almost bailed out many times during the ride.

Too much

What a fun story. I really am falling in love with the Morgan family, just like Tessa (aka T-Rod aka Sam) did in this story. This group is hilarious and sweet and I love the author's description of how they are together. Truly a family that I would love to meet in real life. This story follows Tessa and the second oldest Morgan brother, Captain. It is love at first site for this brother (similar to the first book, Hero) but she leaves before he gets her contact information as his ex comes barreling into the bar calling him a cheat and a liar. Fast forward 3 months of him intensively searching for her (and using probably slightly illegal ways to do so) and well, he sees her again because she is his soon-to-be brother-in-law's assistant (who everyone has been trying to set him up with). Can they see beyond the lies?

I really actually liked the way the relationship progressed- it was over a short time frame but really plays on the fate/soul mate angle but Ryan and Tessa are both such good characters that I can overlook this aspect in a contemporary novel. It is steamy and fun and the only thing is that I thought it dragged a little because of some of the hang ups that Tessa had. However, the relationship between the Morgan family more than made up for it and I found myself laughing out loud at so many of the hijinks. I can't wait to read the next book.

I listened to this book through audible escape. John Lane was great- he played all the characters, male or female, well. Lauren Rowe, as many mentioned, overacted a bit- high energy (sometimes a little too high energy) and a bit shrill sometimes but overall, I enjoyed the narration for this great story.

Hilarious

Captain was an awesome book! Tessa meets Ryan at a bar & he is a total douche. She ends up hating him & never wants to see him again. Fast forward three month's to her boss' wedding. Her boss is marrying Ryan's sister. Tessa has to put up with Ryan for a week. Can she do it & will she still hate him? Ryan is determined to find Tessa no matter what it takes & boy does Ryan look high & low for her. Throw in the rest of the Morgans & there are some great times. I felt like I was a part of the story with the way Lauren Rowe writes & then narrates the book with John Lane & herself. The emotions & feelings that they add to the story are amazing! Who better to narrate a book than the writer herself. I love seeing glimpses of the rest of the Morgans too. If there was ever a book family that I would want to live with, this is the one. Ryan is all kinds of goodness rolled into one person. Tessa stands her ground with him & keeps him on his toes. Listening to this book adds so much more to the story too.

One of my favorite books

Another AMAZING book by Lauren Rowe. The characters in this book are so lovable.Makes you wish you were apart of the Morgan and Fairaday family. Her and John Lane' s narration is in point. They are a great duo and masters at what they do.

Love me some Rum Cake
