Publisher's summary

Dick Moonlight can't help himself. Moonlight, the private detective known as the head case with a bullet lodged in his brain, should be grateful for his current job. But when it becomes clear the cash-starved brain surgeon he's been hired to drive around is protecting his son from a rape conviction, Moonlight is disgusted.

Worse, when the charges turn into a case of "reckless murder", Moonlight's the only one trying to keep the kid from the electric chair though the girl - a state senator's daughter - clearly committed suicide. Then Moonlight and his unwilling assistant, a fat Elvis impersonator owing him money, stumble into a much bigger plot and are soon dodging Hollywood obsessed drug-running Russian thugs, corrupt government officials, and the specter of Moonlight's recently diseased girlfriend.

New York Times best-selling author Vincent Zandri delivers another fast-paced, grizzly thriller in the Dick Moonlight series, offering listeners plenty of wry humor, bullets, car chases, and Scarface references.

Tough PI, side kick Elvis, faces Mob, Great!

Moonlight Weeps
A Dick Moonlight PI Thriller, Book 8
By: Vincent Zandri
Narrated by: Andrew B. Wehrlen
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I really loved this rough and tough PI and his unintentional side kick of "Elvis". A great mystery, wonderfully developed characters, a very devious plot, a touch of gore (not much even though the Russian mob is in it), and a hint of romance. I liked the humor, the witty dialogue, and how the whole thing just works. A real gem of a read! (or listen)
The narrator was truly awesome! He did all the voices just perfect for those characters and in each situation, and that was no easy task! He kept the story interesting and enhanced the story in my opinion. Wonderful job!!!

Moonlight Weeps

Another excellent story with Elvis. He is not really the king,Just an impersonator, but his voice stops traffic. Andrew B Wehrlen was a terrific narrator! I was given this book free for an honest review.

Interesting characters

I enjoyed this story. There's some course language and adult subject matter, but a good story. Definitely some interesting characters. Dick Moonlight is a PI who is a little rough around the edges, but gets the job done. I got a kick out of his Elvis impersonator sidekick. Fast paced and full of action.

Great Story!

A Bruce Willis look alike and an Elvis impersonator drive through town in a hearse...and the story is great! Sounds like a set up for a joke or a bad book, but trust me, you want to listen to this one! You won’t be sorry.

Melodramatic and cliche

This story is a little melodramatic and cliche. It's also obvious that something happened to Moonlight's girlfriend in a previous book of this series. And we're left hanging at the end as regards this girlfriend, but honestly, I don't really care about the girlfriend or their relationship. I'm also not impressed by Elvis and all the movie references. Overall, I'm somewhat disappointed with this story.

Andrew B. Wehrlen has made these characters his own with another satisfactory performance.

Reprieve by Moonlight!

We find our intrepid P.I. Moonlight enjoying a cushy job driving a brain surgeon around after he lost his license due to a D.W.I… Moonlight is morally irked when he discovers the surgeon is protecting his loud-mouthed, irritating son from rape and possible murder charges. This piqued Moonlight’s interest to look into the son and the charges. Unintentionally, Moonlight also investigated his client, the surgeon, by association. By investigating, Moonlight began to believe the son was being framed, the father was up to no good, and Moonlight expanded his services to the surgeon by taking the son as a client while passing the driving duties off to his friend Elvis. Moonlight had his work cut out for himself. Lola, Moonlight’s recently deceased lover, is never far from his mind. Especially when he believes he saw her coming out of a cafe. Driven by grief and guilt, Moonlight looks deeper into the accident but can find no proof of Lola’s death. Is it possible, could Lola still be alive? Excellent story, great characters, and a well-deserved recommendation. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Drugs In The Moonlight

When the daughter of a politician commits suicide, Moonlight is thrust into the world of drugs. A colorful cast of characters include Russian mobsters, a drug dealing brain surgeon, and a teenager looking for revenge. For additional color, Moonlight enlists the help of an Elvis impersonator. Great fun. I was gifted this from the author.

Meet your new PI..

Another enjoyable story from this author. This story is complex. There are many lines and ways this can go. Who do you trust? Or believe? I really like Dick Moonlight, local PI and hired driver as needed. This guy grew up in a mortuary and he knows some cool stuff. Then he does some business with a Elvis impersonator and this guy becomes like a sidekick-his really is a great addition to the story. He adds some fun and lightness to an otherwise serious story. It is very twisted and I am surprised at the ending.

I did listen to this on audio. Andrew B Wehrlen is the narrator. Another solid job from him.

Ok story. Not really a thriller.

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

This was my first book in the series. Even though this is the 8th book of the series, it works fine as a standalone book. It felt like I didn't get introduced to the main character properly, but that was to be expected since the introductions must've been fleshed out in all the previous books in the series. It wasn't much of an issue though.

The story of the book starts slowly and doesn't really get interesting until much later in the book. Even then, I kept listening just for the sake of finishing the book. I wasn't really invested in the outcome of the shenanigans. It was pretty stale story and I wasn't "on the edge of seat" ever.

The narrator did a good job with the material provided. There were no problems with sound quality or pitch/speed.
